Surfing and other water activities

Plage de Siouville-Hague is a surf spot where visitors can surf, windsurf and kitesurf. The Cotentin Surf Club offers supervised introductions to surfing and lessons in Siouville. Seasonal availability may change, so check before travelling whether the activity is available on your dates. The GR223 also reaches the coast at Siouville-Hague. If you plan to follow this route, check the conditions before setting off.

Port Diélette, a marina with almost 500 berths, is near Siouville. Following the GR223 south, it can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes; the actual walking time may vary depending on route conditions. The Centre nautique de Port Diélette offers dinghy and catamaran courses, as well as sea kayaking. Check the course options before you arrive. The area therefore offers a range of water sports: surfing at the beach and nautical courses at the port.

In summer, amphibious bathing equipment for people with reduced mobility is available at the lifeguard station at Plage de Siouville-Hague. The beach has Handiplage Level II certification. As the equipment is available seasonally, it is best to check before your visit whether it will be available on your dates.

Dune landscapes and rural paths

The protected Dunes de Biville area also includes Siouville-Hague. The dune massif covers 707 hectares and stretches for 8 kilometres; its raised dunes reach 114 metres above sea level. The area is part of the Natura 2000 site “Massif dunaire de Héauville à Vauville”. The Hague dune massif begins at the end of Siouville-Hague beach and stretches towards Héauville.

Siouville’s rural paths include routes along the sea and through wooded areas. The commune has 39 rural paths in total, many of whose names refer to their history. Numerous stone walls criss-cross the area of the commune of Siouville-Hague and are characteristic of the Hague landscape.

Pont-Helland also offers several leisure activities: at this recreation area, visitors can fish, try an exercise trail and have a picnic. These options complement the coastal and landscape attractions with activities that are not directly focused on water sports.

Heritage along paths and at landmarks

The Chemin du patrimoine is a 5.8-kilometre heritage trail around the commune. It starts at the Salle du Temple, and six information panels line the route. This makes it easy to plan your visit around a specific route and a manageable number of stops. The combination of a circular walk and information panels makes it a good choice if you are interested in Siouville’s heritage.

Notable buildings include the Maison Coquillage, decorated with thousands of shells. Marine figures and seabirds adorn its garden. The Manoir du Valciot stands on the Chemin des Costils, in an elevated position overlooking the sea. It was probably built towards the end of the 16th century. The Église Saint-Pierre de Siouville has a square tower crowned by a granite dome with an octagonal base. Construction of the Église Saint-Pierre de Siouville began on 27 April 1778 and was completed in 1781. The Protestant temple in Siouville was inaugurated on 4 December 1842. Together, these sites offer various historical and architectural points of interest for a stay that takes in the commune’s heritage as well as its coast.

Whether your choice of accommodation is guided by surfing opportunities, protected landscapes, rural paths or cultural heritage, Siouville offers several distinct themes to explore. You can tailor your search for a hotel in Siouville to the interests that matter most for your trip.
