Longueville brings together historic buildings, horse racing and trails in a bocage landscape. This gives you several distinct themes to explore when choosing your destination: the history of the church and manor houses, racing at Hippodrome de Granville, and long walking trails and fishing on the Boscq.

Historic buildings and their dates

The Château/Manoir de Longueville was restored in 1700 in the style of Louis XIV. The estate’s dovecote was listed as a Monument historique by decree on 7 April 1975. The 1700 restoration concerns the Château/Manoir; the listing of 7 April 1975 applies to the dovecote.

The Church of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul dates from the 15th and 17th centuries. The nave and choir were given a wooden ceiling in 1774. The church dates from the 15th and 17th centuries; the wooden ceiling in the nave and choir dates from 1774.

The Manoir Sainte-Marie, also known as the Ruine Du Guesclin, dates from the early 15th century and was altered in the second half of the 16th century. An early date is followed by a later alteration here. The Pierre Aigüe menhir, also known as Pierre-Hue, is 3.35 metres high and stands in a private garden on the border with Donville-les-Bains. The menhir is in a private garden. Before visiting, check whether access is possible before planning to see it as a freely accessible attraction.

Hippodrome de Granville and horse racing

Hippodrome de Granville was founded in 1878. It hosts trotting, steeplechase and flat races. If horse racing is important to you when choosing a destination, the racecourse offers a clear point of interest alongside the historic buildings. Riders also make use of Longueville’s long trails. The area therefore offers two distinct ways to enjoy horses: racing at Hippodrome de Granville and riding along the trails through the bocage landscape.

Bocage, trails and the Boscq

A bocage landscape shapes the surroundings on the outskirts of Longueville. Numerous long trails are popular with walkers, and riders also use them. The Boscq offers a different focus: the river is a trout stream and is used for fishing. When choosing activities, the long trails are suited to walking and riding, while the Boscq, as a trout stream, is suited to fishing.

The Boscq forms the southern boundary with Yquelon and Anctoville, and the eastern boundary with Coudeville. Hippodrome de Granville lies within the territory of the communes of Longueville and Bréville-sur-Mer.
