Wormhout offers a range of themes, from architectural and photographic history to outdoor activities. When planning your trip, it is worth considering access arrangements and the time required for each. This makes it easier to choose cultural sites, a visit to a pond or a longer route according to your interests.

Church, Museum and Windmill

The Église Saint-Martin was built between 1613 and 1616 and is classified as a historic monument. Group tours are available by reservation. If you would like to take one, allow for the reservation when planning. Its construction dates and classification make the church a clear historical landmark in Wormhout.

The Musée Jeanne Devos is housed in a former presbytery dating from the 18th century. Jeanne Devos sold her former home to the municipality of Wormhout so that it could become a museum. The museum is dedicated to the life and work of Jeanne Devos, described as Flanders’ first professional photographer. The museum thus connects the history of the building with the person and photographic work to which it is dedicated.

The Moulin Deschodt is a two-storey wooden post mill. Its sails span 24 metres, and its weight is estimated at 80 tonnes. When considering the mill, you can distinguish the sails’ span from its explicitly estimated weight. Visits are available seasonally according to a set schedule or by appointment.

Pond and Circular Walk

The Base de loisirs des 3 Sources is located on the site of a former farm. Its pond is freely accessible to visitors who want to go for a walk and have a picnic. Astronomy activities are also held at the fishing pond. This means a walk and picnic by the pond are accompanied by another activity with a different focus.

The Circuit du Moulin de la Briarde circular walking route is 13.5 kilometres long, takes about four and a half hours and starts at Wormhout church. It passes through the Peene Becque valley and follows part of the Peene Becque. The duration is an approximate guide for planning your time. Before setting out, check whether there are any diversions, as future diversions may change the route information. Compared with a visit to the pond, the difference is the time required: a walk and picnic are the main focus there, while the route’s length and approximate duration indicate what to expect from the hike.

The Linéo Areas

The Linéo areas differ in their facilities: Côté Aquatique has swimming pools, a lagoon and a 50-metre slide; Côté Zen has a sauna, a hammam, an outdoor whirlpool, a cold-water pool and a tea room. This makes it possible to distinguish water-based facilities from wellness offerings.
