When looking for a hotel in Bondues, you can choose your destination based on your interests: Bondues offers connections to the history of the Resistance, historic sites, golf and routes through the municipality. These different themes can help you choose a focus for your stay.

The history of the Resistance at Fort de Bondues

The Musée de la Résistance de Bondues is located in the remains of Fort de Bondues. It tells the story of the Resistance in Nord-Pas-de-Calais during the German occupation. The fort’s location and the regional context of the Resistance are presented together.

A total of 68 members of the Resistance were executed at Fort de Bondues between 17 March 1943 and 1 May 1944. These exact dates define the period in which this historical event took place; the number and the specific location closely connect its remembrance to the fort.

Historic sites and the Boucle des Deux Domaines

Another historic collection is housed at Château du Vert-Bois, which is owned by the Prouvost family. It includes faience and Napoleonic memorabilia. This distinguishes the focus here from the history of the Resistance: the emphasis is on a collection of faience and memorabilia from the Napoleonic era.

The Boucle des Deux Domaines starts at the car park of Ferme de l'Hôtel, 37 avenue de Wambrechies in Bondues. It passes through part of the historic Domaine de La Vigne, the new Domaine des « Belles Fermes » and the « Diamants Blancs », a senior living residence. Country lanes and Bondues’ well-known avenues link these places. At the end of the route stands the Chapelle du Vœu, a chapel built from grey Tournai stone in 1915.

Ferme de l'Hôtel is also a suitable place for observing biodiversity. This means that one of the route’s points of reference also offers a natural aspect, distinct from the historic sites. For planning your visit, the precise starting point and the listed stops along the Boucle provide helpful landmarks.

Golf courses and other routes

Golf de Bondues covers just under 120 hectares and has two 18-hole courses. The Trent-Jones course consists of nine holes designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and nine more completed by his son a few years later. By contrast, the Hawtree course is described as long, narrow and well protected, with large plateau greens defended by bunkers.

This information offers different points of reference if golf is part of your trip: the Trent-Jones course is notable for the layout and authorship of its two nine-hole sections, while the Hawtree course is distinguished by its layout and design. Bondues’ recreational aerodrome also has several freely accessible routes for all levels.

Getting to the Musée de la Résistance
