Trébas combines the natural surroundings of the Tarn with traces of history and seasonal activities. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Trébas, you can choose what to focus on according to whether you are mainly interested in biodiversity, cultural heritage or summer activities on the water.

Nature Trails and Landscapes Along the Tarn

The Parcours de découverte de la nature explores the biodiversity of an Espace Naturel Sensible on the banks of the Tarn. Features and facilities along the route include information panels, insect hotels, nest boxes, hedgehog shelters, a traditional bread oven and a community garden. Some installations may be renewed. The Sentier des Sources passes historic remains and remarkable natural and landscape heritage. When choosing between the two trails, consider their respective focus: the Parcours highlights biodiversity, while the Sentier des Sources combines historic remains with natural and landscape heritage. At the Barrage de Trébas, a viewpoint offers a view of the Tarn.

Springs and Traces of History

Trébas has three springs: Saint-Roch, Assié and Sainte-Marie. The historic thermal heritage of Trébas-les-Bains is also linked to the village’s history: it dates back to Gallo-Roman times and is associated with copper- and iron-rich waters. Two gates remain from the medieval fortifications; Trébas was a fortified settlement at the time.

The Sentier de Gaycre par les rivages passes through varied landscapes and leads to small heritage sites, including a washhouse, a Cazelle and crosses. This offers a different perspective on cultural heritage from that of the surviving fortified gates: here, the focus is on individual small landmarks along a route.

Summer Activities on the Water

The LOCA water sports centre in Trébas offers canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding. Its activities also include a 13-kilometre descent of the Tarn between Trébas and Ambialet. Operating conditions may vary; check them before your trip. In Trébas, swimming is supervised daily in July and August from 2:30 to 7:00 p.m. Season dates may change from year to year.

For family activities, there is the seasonal L’Oasis parc enfants: this shaded outdoor park has large inflatable play equipment, pedal karts and a ball pit. Opening periods may change, so it is worth checking the latest information if you are planning a visit.

Market and Local Produce

Every Sunday morning in July and August, Trébas hosts a market featuring local producers; dates may vary from year to year. Local agriculture also continues in the form of fruit growing, as well as a honey and vinegar producer. Alongside nature and culture, the market and local production give your stay a connection to local produce, without implying visits to the businesses.
