Mont-Roc offers several distinct points of interest to help you plan your trip: religious sites, historic remains, climbing areas and nature trails. You can consider these as different focal points for your stay.

Heritage from Different Periods

The Church of Saint-Michel contains a carved holy water font and a 19th-century confessional. Near the Montcouyoul rock lies the Chapel of Saint-Michel, which was formerly an outbuilding of Montcouyoul Castle. Notre Dame de Salvignane was a place of pilgrimage until the French Revolution. All that remains of Montcouyoul Castle is a tower.

The historical details highlight different periods: the confessional dates from the 19th century, while Notre Dame de Salvignane’s role as a place of pilgrimage ended with the French Revolution. The chapel is notable for its former connection to the castle; just one tower remains of the castle itself. Mont-Roc therefore offers different forms of heritage, from religious furnishings to the surviving remains of a castle complex.

Waterways, Rocks and Climbing Areas

Mont-Roc lies within a triangle formed by the confluence of the Dadou and the Dadounet. Both waterways are local streams. The surroundings of Lac de Razisse are also shaped by water and varied habitats: the area immediately around the lake has streams, rivers, rocky cliffs and forests. The Base de Loisirs de Razisse is near Lac de Razisse.

Near the Base de Loisirs de Razisse, there is a climbing crag, a body of water, numerous hiking trails and a high ropes course. This offers a range of options for spending time outdoors. Separate operating conditions may apply to individual activities.

The PĂ´le Nature de Mont-Roc offers an 8 km combined route to four climbing areas, with more than 180 climbing routes. For planning a climbing trip, both the route length and the number of areas and routes are specified. Along with the hiking trails and high ropes course at the Base de Loisirs, there are several different ways to actively explore the landscape.

Wildlife Watching and Views

The Sentier découverte du Moulenc is a short circular trail in the Espace Naturel Sensible Razisse et Dadou. This nature trail includes a small pond with a footbridge, where visitors can observe diving beetles, palmate newts and agile frogs. If wildlife watching is a particular interest on your outing, the pond is a specific highlight of this trail.

The Sentier découverte du Moulenc is freely accessible every day throughout the year. Check for possible temporary closures or maintenance work before visiting.

The Sentier du Calvaire leads to a secured viewpoint and is suitable for a family outing. From there, you can enjoy panoramic views over part of Lac de Razisse and the Tarn department. The two trails offer different experiences: the Moulenc trail focuses on a circular route and wildlife watching, while the Calvaire trail features the viewpoint and panorama. When planning your outing, you can choose whether wildlife watching or the views better suit your interests.
