Soucirac is part of the Parc naturel régional des Causses du Quercy. Historic cultural sites and trails provide practical starting points for planning a stay. The village is home to the Church of Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption, and walks are possible throughout the commune. The Dolmen des Fosses and the La Boucle des Crêtes cycling loop add another historic site and a cycling option to the mix. If you are looking for a hotel in Soucirac, you can start by considering whether village history, walking or cycling will play a bigger part in your stay.

Local heritage

The Church of Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption stands in the village and was almost entirely rebuilt in 1878. Some sections of wall from the medieval church remain; several carved stones have been placed in the cemetery. The extensive 19th-century rebuilding therefore sits alongside a few surviving medieval features. The Chemin des Pechs walking trail passes the church.

The Dolmen des Fosses is also classified as a historic monument. It was classified by decree on 12 July 1989. While the church stands in the village, the dolmen is on the Les Combeles path, just over 2 km from the village centre. CinéLot adds a mobile cinema programme to the cultural offering, with monthly screenings in villages across the Lot department. As part of this programme, the film “La Grande Vadrouille” was shown in Soucirac.

Walking in Soucirac

Soucirac’s terrain has an elevation difference of more than 100 metres and offers opportunities for walks throughout the commune. The Chemin des Pechs walking trail leads from Soucirac through a varied succession of hamlets, where stone and vegetation come together. It passes the Church of Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption and the Fontaine Saint-Pantaléon. The fountain was once known for its healing properties.

On walks through the wild countryside and livestock-raising areas, you may encounter deer, squirrels, foxes, horses, cows and sheep; encounters with these animals are not guaranteed. Below the village, a short, steep path leads directly to the Fontaine Saint-Pantaléon and its washhouse. Check trail conditions locally before settling on a specific walking route.

Cycling loop and connections

La Boucle des Crêtes is a 32 km, moderately difficult cycling loop with an estimated duration of three hours. It is suitable for electric-assist bicycles and passes through Soucirac as well as Labastide-Murat, Montfaucon, Séniergues, Ginouillac and Vaillac. This cycling loop can therefore be included in your stay as a standalone activity.

The on-demand transport service set up by the CCQB offers departures from Soucirac and connections to Cahors, Gourdon and Saint Germain du Bel Air. Check the timetable and conditions of use before planning, as both may change.
