Discover Saint-Géry
Accommodation in Saint-Géry
Saint-Géry brings together religious heritage, railway attractions and views of the Lot Valley landscape. This gives you a range of options for your stay: the Croix de Dilhac, a railway museum with a model railway, a small train track in the park, as well as viewpoints and routes. You can choose where to stay based on whether you are most interested in local history, railways or trails through valley and limestone plateau landscapes.
Cultural History and Railways
The Croix de Dilhac was probably erected in 1777. It was a site for processions of supplication and religious festivals, where people prayed for the protection of crops and animals. Alongside the railway attractions, it recalls another chapter in the town’s religious history.
The Musée ferroviaire de Saint-Géry is housed in a former goods station. Its exhibits include historic railway equipment, signals, tools, posters and photographs. There is also an HO-scale model railway with more than 100 metres of track spread over three levels. The collection combines objects and visual sources with a model depiction of the railway. Visits are free and self-guided. Visitor arrangements may change seasonally, so check the details before your visit.
A 450-metre track runs through the park next to the museum, where a small train is pulled by either a steam locomotive or a locomotive. The museum and park offer different aspects of the railway theme: the collection and model railway take centre stage here, while the small train track is the focus there. Operating details may change seasonally; check the current arrangements before your visit.
The Lot Valley, Viewpoints and Trails
The Point de vue de Saint-Géry offers panoramic views over the Lot Valley and its limestone cliffs. It is located in the Parc Naturel Régional des Causses du Quercy. The liO Car stop “SAINT-GERY-VERS-St Géry - Pont” is 2 km from the viewpoint. Stop and connection details may change; check them before travelling.
Le rocher pointu is an easy 4.1 km circular trail that takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to walk. It offers views of Saint-Géry, Vers, the Lot Valley and its impressive cliffs. The À Vercinge(to)ry route offers a different perspective: it runs through the green, unspoilt Vers Valley and across the limestone plateau. This challenging route offers panoramic views of Saint-Géry and the Lot Valley from higher ground. You can choose between an easy loop with a stated distance and walking time, and a challenging route through the valley and across the limestone plateau.
Another Activity
There is an easily accessible fishing spot at the Canal de l'écluse, where fishing with up to four rods is permitted. Fishing regulations may change, so check the rules in force before fishing. This fishing spot adds another specific activity to Saint-Géry’s cultural and landscape attractions, offering a different focus when planning your stay.
