Prendeignes can be explored through three distinct themes for a stay: the Chemin des Totems, traditional architecture and the summer festival Ségal’Arts. The details of the village highlight different aspects, from an artistically marked path to a recurring cultural event.

The Chemin des Totems

The Chemin des Totems begins at the entrance to the centre of Prendeignes. This circular route passes through Cantagrel and Cantagrel Haut; around thirty totems mark its course. The path offers walkers a different way to discover the village’s buildings and landscapes. The focus is not only on the artistic objects: the built environment and the landscape are also part of the circular route’s theme.

The Chemin was created with the participation of the residents of Prendeignes. The creative activities were free for participants; specific activity times may vary. This community-led creation adds a local connection to the path’s artistic focus. If the circular route is a main reason for your trip, check the current installation details on site.

Traditional houses and architectural details

In many of Prendeignes’ traditional houses, the ground floors serve agricultural or commercial purposes. Another distinctive feature is the “bolet”: in traditional houses, a stone staircase leads to it on the first floor. If you are interested in architecture, look out in Prendeignes for how the ground floors are used and for the “bolet” on the first floor, reached by a stone staircase.

Work carried out in 2014 also offers insight into construction projects in the village. Access paths were maintained, including the then-new “sentier retrouvé” in Prendeignes. At the washhouse, parts of the roof structure were renewed, traditional channel tiles were used and a mosaic was installed. The year refers to these works. If a path is part of your plans, check its current accessibility on site.

Ségal’Arts as a reason to visit in summer

Ségal’Arts takes place every summer as a festival of street and rural arts. In 2026, the festival returned for its 21st edition, held from 24 to 26 July 2026. The festival format includes street theatre, artistic performances, concerts and workshops in the village streets. The specific programme varies with each edition. In addition to local residents, visitors from the surrounding area also come to Ségal’Arts.

If you would like to combine your stay with the festival, check the dates for the relevant edition. The 2026 dates refer to that year; for a different travel period, the dates of the relevant event are what matter. This distinguishes the recurring summer period from the specific dates of an individual edition.
