Odos is best explored through its architectural heritage and leisure opportunities. The château on the central esplanade combines a historically documented site with terracotta decoration; nearby, options range from Parc du Galopio to the Circuit de Lapassade. This lets you balance culture, time outdoors and active recreation during your trip.

Château and local history

The Château d’Odos dominates the central esplanade. A stone château at Motte Soubirane is documented from the 12th century, particularly for the years 1249 to 1256. The château features terracotta decoration by the Toulouse architect Vireband and is the only work by this artist in the département. The decoration was among the reasons for its inclusion in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments in 2006. The château thus brings together the town’s long-documented history and distinctive artistic design.

The château is not open to visitors. However, you can view its façades from the outside: from the north, from the former courtyard of the outbuildings, now a public square, and from the south, from Petite Rue du Château. If you plan to visit the building, focus on these exterior views and check the visitor information locally again before your trip.

The church of Odos offers a different historical perspective. It underwent extensive restoration between 1850 and 1860; in 1858, the restored church was opened to worshippers. This allows you to compare the stone château’s documented history, dating back to the 12th century, with a recorded restoration period in the 19th century.

Leisure in the Bouscarou district

Parc du Galopio in the Bouscarou district offers public leisure facilities. These include a multisport court, children’s play areas, a pétanque court, two table-tennis tables, a promenade, exercise equipment and picnic tables. There are various ways to enjoy some activity and take a break outdoors: you could focus on the play areas, sports court or table-tennis tables, while the pétanque court and promenade add further options.

An educational trail at Parc du Galopio introduces visitors to the local natural heritage. It features four information boards along the stream that flows through the Bouscarou district; the trail was installed in 2022. It offers a different focus from the sports and play areas, with an emphasis on discovering the local natural heritage.

Hiking and horse riding

The Circuit de Lapassade passes through a rural landscape of wooded and open sections and offers beautiful views of the Pyrenees range. To get to the trail, you can take TLP Mobilités route T10 to the 603 Mairie stop. Check the timetable in advance, as schedules may change. The varied landscape and views of the mountain range offer a different way to experience the area from the leisure facilities in the Bouscarou district.

Ecuries du Bouscarou offers horse-riding activities with 60 horses and ponies. Visitors can try horse riding, rediscover it or improve their skills. This provides a dedicated horse-riding option alongside hiking.

Events and meeting places

“Samedi, ça te dit?” has been held on the second Saturday of each month from April to October since 2022. The event brings together food trucks, itinerant vendors and local orchestras; people from outside Odos also attend. If you would like to plan your stay around an event date, check the specific dates before travelling.

The Jardin de la MJC is open to the public outside childcare hours and is a place to relax and meet others. Check access again before your visit. Together with the event, the garden offers a different reason to experience Odos: a peaceful visit to a public space rather than a programme of market stalls and music.
