Masseube offers several distinct reasons to stay: a year-round open-air market, a seasonal market featuring local producers, golf, walking trails and historic cultural sites. For planning your trip, the calendar makes the biggest difference, while the activities appeal to different interests. You can first consider whether market days, outdoor activities, or the town’s history and culture are most important for your trip. If your dates are still flexible, comparing the markets gives you a practical guide by day of the week and season.

Markets in Masseube

The weekly open-air market takes place every Tuesday morning throughout the year. In addition, a market featuring local producers runs on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon, from June to October. So if a market visit is part of your plans, the time of year matters: the first market runs year-round, while the second is seasonal. Match your travel days to the market you want to visit and check the dates before you arrive.

Golf, trails and cycling

Eco Golf de Gascogne offers nine holes and 18 teeing grounds. It also has a golf school, an environmental label and more than 250 protected species. These features give an overview of the golf course’s scale, learning opportunities and environmental profile. In the Masseube countryside, rolling hills, trails and the Gers River invite you to hike and mountain bike. The Circuit Vélo de Lamothe is also designated for cycling: this marked loop is 23.4 kilometres long, starts in Masseube and follows shared roads. Its starting point in Masseube, route markers, length and road type provide practical guidance for planning your ride. Check the route details before setting off, as they may change.

History and culture

The bastide of Masseube was founded under a paréage agreement in 1274. The Église Saint-Christophe stands in the centre of Masseube’s square, near the town hall. Visible foundations of a former chapel, probably dating from the 13th century, can be seen at the church. The year 1274 marks the founding of the bastide; the former chapel, by contrast, is thought to date from the 13th century. The Cinéma de Masseube is housed in a former convent chapel. The Marie Vermillard cinema is a member of the Ciné 32 network, and its supporting association offers a varied programme of events. Programme details may change; check them before your visit.
