Several themes come into focus when planning a stay in Estang: historic heritage, walks and visitor experiences at Ferme de Belon. For the buildings, construction dates, building methods and heritage listing provide specific points of reference; for the trails, you can compare distance, walking time and difficulty. Ferme de Belon complements these themes with guided tours and workshops. This allows you to weigh up whether local history, a walk or a guided experience should take priority during your stay.

Historic buildings and local history

The Arènes d'Estang have seating for 2,000. The covered wooden arenas date from 1901 and have been listed in the register of historic monuments since 1993. These details describe different aspects of the building: its seating capacity, construction method and protected status. The dates also have different roles: 1901 is the year they were built, while 1993 marks the start of their listing. This makes it possible to distinguish the construction date from the heritage protection date.

The Église Notre-Dame d'Estang is a Romanesque church dating from the 12th century and has been listed in the same register since 1998. Its construction dates back centuries before the arenas were built; its listing followed five years after theirs. These are two separate timelines for comparison: the Romanesque style and century place the church in its architectural context, while 1998 marks its protected status.

The former Castelnau of Estang is also still discernible. Streets that have replaced walls and moats make it possible to trace the former fortified settlement. Unlike the churches and arenas, the focus here is not on a single construction date, but on the course of the former fortifications as reflected in the street layout. The town's history can thus also be understood through its structure.

Walking trails: Circuit du Tuco and Circuit du Gié

The Circuit du Tuco is an easy walking trail covering 7.2 kilometres; walking time is about 1 hour and 45 minutes. There is an important limitation if you are planning to use a pushchair: the trail is not suitable for one. This lets you take into account the time required, the difficulty level and this specific restriction on use.

The Circuit du Gié takes walkers through Estang and the surrounding countryside. It is a very easy circular route and takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes on foot. Its route description therefore combines a walk through the town with the surrounding area.

To choose between the trails, you can directly compare their walking times and ratings: the Gié takes around 15 minutes less than the Tuco, and is rated very easy rather than easy. This lets you weigh up the approximate time and difficulty level separately. The Tuco also has the pushchair restriction, if that is relevant to your trip.

Tours at Ferme de Belon

Ferme de Belon offers guided tours as well as workshops on cosmetic processing. The activities have different focuses: the tours provide guided insights, while the workshops focus on cosmetic processing. If you include the farm in your travel plans, you can choose between a guided visit and the workshop topic according to your interests.

A 2025 announcement also mentions a CBD plant maze at Ferme de Belon that was open to everyone. Check whether the maze is currently accessible before your trip.
