Discover Tendon
Accommodation in Tendon
In Tendon, nature, outdoor activities and local history are at the heart of the travel options available. The Cascades de Tendon and several granite formations offer different highlights; trail distance, elevation gain or duration help you plan your hikes. There is also the escape game at Le Presbytère and the La Hutte quarry, which is connected to the Champs-Élysées. This lets you tailor your trip planning to what matters most to you.
Getting to Tendon
From Épinal, take the D11 towards Gérardmer to reach Tendon. From Gérardmer, follow the D417 towards Remiremont, then take the D11 at the entrance to Le Tholy. Check road conditions before setting out, as they may change.
Waterfall and hiking trails
The Cascades de Tendon include a waterfall surrounded by forest, with a drop of about 30 metres. The Balade des cascades de Tendon is an easy 3.7-kilometre out-and-back hike with 70 metres of elevation gain. When planning, you can take the distance, elevation gain and difficulty rating into account. Weather conditions may affect trail accessibility.
A marked hiking trail runs from the Cascades de Tendon to the Col de Bonne Fontaine, takes two to three hours and passes the Roches de la Brostille. You can explore it on foot or by mountain bike. This gives you different points of reference when choosing a route: the Balade lists its distance and elevation gain, while the hike to the Col also gives a time estimate and a mountain-bike option.
The Roche de la Brostille lies at an altitude of 682 metres and offers a view of the village of Tendon. It can be reached from the Cascades de Tendon via a hiking trail marked with red rings. The Roches de la Moulure offer a different highlight: they lie on the village’s northeastern slope along the Chemin de la Moulure and consist of large, unusually split and stacked granite blocks. While the Roche de la Brostille is known for its view of Tendon, the distinctive shape of the rocks stands out at the Roches de la Moulure.
Local history and other interests
The La Hutte quarry in Tendon supplied granite paving stones that were used for the Champs-Élysées. This connection makes the quarry a distinct point of interest alongside the waterfall and hiking trails: here, granite is present not only as a natural rock formation, but also as a material used for a specific purpose outside the village.
Le Presbytère offers an escape game lasting 1 hour and 45 minutes, with an atmosphere inspired by horror films. Its duration helps you plan your time. Booking and operating conditions may change; check them before making plans.
GAEC de la Moulure produces organic cheese in Tendon and offers direct sales through a shop. If you would like to include buying cheese in your travel plans, confirm availability before visiting.
