In Ramonchamp, you can compare hikes, a mountain biking route and historic sites using specific details about distance, duration and theme. The Étang Noir is on a longer hiking route; shorter loops lead to the Voie Verte or to places such as an arboretum and the La Maix playground. A chapel and a church also add a cultural dimension to your stay.

Choose hikes by distance and duration

The Randonnée de l'Étang Noir is a moderately difficult 11-kilometre hike with 336 metres of elevation gain. Its stated duration is 3 hours and 15 minutes; it starts and finishes in Ramonchamp. At the Noir Étang waterfall, the route crosses a wooden bridge and then reaches the Étang Noir. There is a picnic table there; check its condition on site. At the end of the pond is a viewpoint above the waterfall.

A shorter alternative is the Circuit poussette de Ramonchamp: this 3.2-kilometre circular route starts at the town hall and takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes. It leads to the Voie Verte des Hautes Vosges and follows part of it. The Voie Verte is freely accessible and used for walking, cycling, roller sports and roller skiing. The circuit lets you discover the village and the banks of the Moselle. Compared with the 11-kilometre hike, its stated route length is considerably shorter.

The Circuit de la Roche Jolie offers another combination of distance and destinations: this easy, family-friendly circular walk is 5.4 kilometres long, has 110 metres of elevation gain and a stated duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. Along the way, it passes an orientation board, an arboretum and the La Maix playground. The three hiking options therefore differ not only in length and duration, but also in whether the focus is on the Étang Noir, the banks of the Moselle or several named stops.

Mountain biking route with named viewpoints

The marked Itinéraire VTT n° 1 – Col de Morbieux starts at the Ramonchamp town hall. The route is rated red and covers 16 kilometres with 550 metres of elevation gain. From Roche Jolie, Chalet de Salmon and Bénapré, it offers views of Ramonchamp. It also passes through forests near the Col de Morbieux, where rest chalets are located. This makes it possible to assess the mountain biking route by its own figures and stops rather than equating it with the much shorter footpaths.

Church and chapel: local history

The Église Saint-Rémy-et-Saint-Blaise de Ramonchamp was built in 1684. Its furnishings and history include several dated details: in 1732, the church received an organ as a donation from Abbé Georges d'Ogeron. A painting by Lecomte from 1950 commemorates the First World War. Visitors interested in historic buildings and their individual stories will find more here than just a construction date.

The Chapelle des Breucheux is dedicated to Notre-Dame du Bon Conseil. Children from Ramonchamp built it in 1957 in memory of their comrades who fell victim to the war. From the town centre, you can reach the chapel by car or on foot via a path marked with blue diamonds. If you walk, check the path conditions on site.
