Yutz: Park and historic landmarks

The Aéroparc is a 42-hectare park in the centre of Yutz. It includes an ornamental pond covering 2.5 hectares. The pond is therefore part of the park grounds and considerably smaller than the overall area. Together, these figures give an idea of the scale of the Aéroparc: they describe the park as a whole and one specific feature within its grounds. The central location is also a point of reference when considering Yutz as a travel destination.

Paths and seasonal opening hours

The Aéroparc has paths for pedestrians, joggers, cyclists and inline skaters. This means you can take different ways of getting around the park into account: walking, jogging, cycling or inline skating. This choice makes the type of activity a specific feature of the park. Which of these matters for your travel plans depends on your own interests.

The park is open year-round. From 15 April to 15 September, it is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; from 16 September to 14 April, it is open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The opening time is the same in both periods, while the closing time differs by two hours depending on the season. Check the hours before your visit, as they may change. If you are planning your stay around the park, the time of year will determine your daily schedule.

Archaeological and ecclesiastical history

Among Yutz’s best-known archaeological finds are the Vases of Yutz: two stamnoi and two oinochoai dating from the 5th century BC. There are four vessels in total, divided between two named forms. Their date reaches far back into the past of the place and offers a different historical perspective from visiting the park. For travellers interested in the history of Yutz, the vases are a specific archaeological point of reference.

The original parish church of Saint-Nicolas stood at the western entrance to the village; a council was held there in 846. The parish church was rebuilt in 1958. This adds two more historical dates: the council at the former village entrance and the rebuilding in the 20th century. Together with the vases from the 5th century BC, these span the period from antiquity to the 20th century.

Yutz Plage and travel planning

Yutz Plage is a summer event in Yutz, established by the municipal administration in 2020. Editions and programmes vary from year to year. If you would like to include Yutz Plage in your travel plans, check before travelling whether an edition is taking place during your dates and what programme is planned.

The purpose of your trip can be a practical guide when choosing a hotel in Yutz. If you are planning around the Aéroparc, take its seasonal opening hours into account; for Yutz Plage, the relevant factors are whether an edition is taking place and its programme for that travel year. The historical sites offer a different focus from a time-specific visit to the park or an event.
