Évaux-les-Bains combines thermal treatments with historic buildings and trails through the countryside. When planning your visit, you can choose between therapeutic treatments, spa facilities, walking and hiking routes, and cultural sights. The town is also a member of the Route des villes d’eaux du Massif central and the only spa town in Limousin.

Thermal Centre, Baths and Spa

The thermal centre in Évaux-les-Bains specialises in treating rheumatism and venous insufficiency. Its three therapeutic specialities are rheumatology, phlebology and gynaecology. The thermal baths cover 1,000 m² and are equipped with modern treatment equipment. In addition, the 550 m² Les Bains d’Evahona spa offers, among other facilities, a hammam, a whirlpool, an ice fountain, a traditional sauna and an infrared sauna. It also features a salt cave and a relaxation pool.

Thermes & Spa Évaux-les-Bains offers thermal short stays of 1 to 6 days for prevention and wellbeing. The complementary workshops are open to everyone, not just spa guests. The availability of short stays and workshops may change, so check the current offerings before planning. This allows you to distinguish between therapeutic treatments, a short break and spa options when planning your trip, without treating these different types of stay as equivalent.

Trails and Countryside

The Parc aux daims is located in the protected thermal valley, halfway between the town centre and the thermal baths. For a hike with views of the town centre, the Tournada Panorama circular trail leads from the thermal centre beyond the town limits and up into the hills. From there, you can enjoy a sweeping panoramic view of the centre of Évaux-les-Bains.

Tournada Panorama is an easy 8-kilometre circular hiking trail; the walk takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Les Rochers de Bord is also classified as an easy circular hiking trail, covering 7.1 kilometres and taking about 2 hours and 30 minutes. Tournada Panorama is therefore the longer route, but has a shorter stated walking time. At Les Rochers de Bord, the route follows a goat path lined with boxwood through a wild gorge landscape. Check trail conditions before setting out.

The Circum Evahonum circular trail has a different focus: it leads to the town’s smaller architectural and built heritage sites. This offers a choice between a route around the town’s buildings and a countryside trail through the gorges, for two different kinds of exploration.

Heritage and Architectural History

The Église Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul is a protected historic monument; it was designated on 1 October 1841. The Abbatiale Saint-Pierre Saint-Paul also houses a reliquary bust of Saint Marien, made of carved and gilded wood. One architectural feature described there is square at its base, becomes round towards the top, and then octagonal.

The Maison des Saints is a historic 19th-century building in the town centre, south of the Église Saint-Pierre. On 28 May 2025, it was partially listed as a historic monument. Its collection includes 53 plaster casts, three stone sculptures, and around ten canopies and consoles. Abbé Anselme Simonet had the building extended and statues installed that had been salvaged from the restoration site of Notre-Dame de Paris.

The Viaduc de la Tardes tells another story of architectural history: Gustave Eiffel designed and built it between 1885 and 1887. A railway line carrying trains between Paris and Ussel once crossed the viaduct; since 2008, it has no longer been used by railway lines. Évaux-les-Bains is therefore home to architectural details and historic collections, as well as traces of transport history.
