Trouillas lies in the rolling hills of the Aspres, between the Roussillon plain and the foothills of Canigou. Winegrowing, the market and historic sites offer different ways to shape your stay. You can get to know the town through its agricultural character, sacred art and the history of Château du Mas Deu.

Winegrowing and Local History

Most of Trouillas’s usable agricultural land is devoted to winegrowing; fruit and olive cultivation are also found here. The landscape of the Aspres forms the setting for this diverse agricultural character.

The history of winegrowing is also tied to a specific grape variety: during the expansion of winegrowing in the 19th century, Trouillas was a major producer of Chasselas table grapes. This historical episode adds a clearly identified period and crop to the present-day picture of winegrowing.

The Clos Cérianne winery welcomes visitors throughout the year for a tour of the estate and a wine tasting. The tastings are accompanied by carefully selected local products, adding another regional touch.

Clos Cérianne was founded in 2017 in the wine cellar of the founder’s great-grandfather, Charles. The place where it was founded is therefore also part of the winery’s history.

A weekly market is held in Trouillas every week. Along with winery visits, it offers another regular point of reference for planning your trip.

Church and Sacred Art

Eglise Saint Assiscle is dedicated to Saint Assiscle and Saint Victoire. It has a single nave and an aligned apse. A single-nave building focuses the interior on one main nave; the apse forms the architectural end along its axis. This allows the dedication and the basic architectural form to be considered as distinct aspects of the church.

A specific work of art adds to this view of the building: the altarpiece created by Giralt dates from 1675. Together with the dedication and the floor plan described above, it gives Trouillas a distinctive focus on religious art and architecture.

Château du Mas Deu

Château du Mas Deu is located in a former Templar commandery. The term refers to a settlement of the Knights Templar and places the château in a historical context. The Oliver family ages authentic wines there while preserving tradition. Visits are possible outside the season by appointment.

For planning your visit, it is helpful to note the difference between the visitor options: Clos Cérianne welcomes visitors year-round for a tour and wine tasting; visits to Château du Mas Deu are possible outside the season by appointment. This offers two different options: a year-round winery experience and a visit arranged by appointment outside the season.
