Vergèze brings together the history of PERRIER mineral water, visible traces of the village’s past and opportunities to spend time outdoors. When planning your trip, you can choose from a range of interests: a guided tour of the spring, historic sites, walking trails, a cycling route and water sports. If you’re looking for a hotel in Vergèze, you can plan your stay around whether culture, cycling or nature is your priority.

PERRIER Museum and the history of water

The Musée et Source PERRIER showcases the place where the iconic French mineral water originated more than 160 years ago. A guided tour of the PERRIER Museum takes you from the museum to the original spring. The museum visit and the walk to the spring are therefore part of the same tour.

You can extend your visit with a tour of an industrial gallery, which offers an insight into the bottling process. This adds a look at bottling to the story of the spring. Before your visit, check the current booking requirements and access to the industrial gallery, as these may change.

Historic monument and former PERRIER residence

The 13th-century Cheminée Sarrazine has been listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments since December 1949. It can be seen at the present-day private school “La Sarrazine” and is considered the only visible remnant of the period when the village probably became established at its current site, between 1000 and 1200. Looking at the monument, you can distinguish its date from the probable early history of the present-day village site.

Another historic link to the PERRIER spring is Parc du Cottage, once the residence of the spring’s British directors. Alongside the museum and spring, the park brings the story of the former residence into focus.

Walking trails in Boisement Perrier

Boisement Perrier is a 17-hectare wooded area open to everyone, with more than 2 km of walking trails. It was created following plantings in autumn 1997 as part of the “2,000 Trees for the Year 2000” initiative. The woodland therefore has a specific origin, tied to a particular planting initiative and date.

If you’d like to explore Vergèze on foot, the walking trails offer a way to discover the wooded area. Trail conditions may change, so check them before setting out.

Water sports and reed bed at Plage des Lacs

At Plage des Lacs, you can try stand-up paddleboarding and other water sports from a pontoon. A natural reed bed is also rich in biodiversity and provides a peaceful setting. At Plage des Lacs, water sports and a quiet, nature-rich landscape are different aspects of the same place.

Equipment availability may change. If you’re planning water sports, check availability in advance.

Cycle to Vergèze

The La Voie Verte cycle route leads to Vergèze and its cooperage museum. The route therefore has a specific destination with another museum to visit. By contrast, Boisement Perrier offers walking trails through a wooded area: the two options differ in both how you get around and where they take you. Check current route conditions before setting off.
