Ermont brings together a complex local history, architectural and cultural themes, and leisure opportunities. If you are looking for a hotel in Ermont, your interests can help guide your stay: architecture and history, cinema and culture, leisure activities, or a walking stage. The town offers a wide range of ways to explore these themes.

Village, railway, residential town

Ermont developed historically from a village of winegrowers and market gardeners into a railway town and then a residential town. This sequence gives the place its own distinctive history: its agricultural beginnings, its time as a railway town, and its later development as a residential town are all part of it. Those interested in local history will find, alongside this transformation, individual buildings and designs that offer concrete insights into Ermont’s past and character.

The Club des Espérances was built by Jean Prouvé as part of the “Mille Clubs” programme launched in 1966. It has been listed as a historic monument since 27 October 2008. At the Église Saint-Flaive, Saint-Étienne and Saint-Flaive are depicted together in a stained-glass window. The trompe-l’œil paintings on the façades and columns of the Mail Rodin depict shops and landscapes inspired by the Vexin. At the same time, they evoke the neighbourhood’s village character. Together, these places offer different perspectives on architecture, religious imagery and the character of the town.

Culture and leisure

The Cinéma Pierre-Fresnay screens comedies, adventure and animated films, documentaries, and notable French and international auteur films. Its programme also includes children’s screenings, Cinés p’tit déj’, themed evenings and Ciné-duo screenings. The programme changes; check the current listings before visiting the cinema.

The Conservatoire à Rayonnement Communal d’Ermont offers classes in music, dance and theatre. It is open to people of all ages, with no admission requirements. This means the cultural offering includes classes in three different disciplines, alongside films and events.

The Médiathèque André Malraux holds more than 100,000 items and hosts exhibitions throughout the year. Its main branch is temporarily closed for renovation from 4 July through 30 November 2026. Take this period into account when planning your visit.

For exercise and leisure, the Parc de loisirs de Cernay has a BMX track, children’s play areas and a relaxation area. The Ferme pédagogique d’Ermont combines an animal area with the Potager. Visits to the animal area are free and unrestricted; visitor policies may change. Check the current visiting conditions in advance.

The Potager uses sustainable practices such as promoting biodiversity, permaculture and agroecology. Growing methods may evolve. Vegetables from the Potager are sold directly, without reservations, on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 3:00 pm at the Espace animalier, 47, route de Franconville. Sales depend on the harvest and may change; check the current conditions before your visit.

A walking route with a clear duration

The “Ermont et Eaubonne, les voisines” walking route starts at Gare Ermont Halte; Ermont is the first of two stages. The route is about 4.3 km long, flat and on paved paths, with no difficulties, and takes approximately an hour and a half. This information makes the route a practical element to include in your day’s plans. Unlike vegetable sales, which take place during a short Wednesday time slot and depend on the harvest, you can plan for an approximate duration for the walk.
