Longperrier offers visitors interested in history tangible points of interest. The Église Sainte-Madeleine combines an early foundation with distinctive architectural features; monuments, former municipal buildings and a historic farmstead add to this overview of local history.

Church and historical remembrance

The Église Sainte-Madeleine in Longperrier was founded around 1185 by the Counts of Dammartin-en-Goële. Its architectural features include a square bell tower, a polygonal apse and a three-sided choir termination with a large axial window. The church also houses a 15th-century stone tabernacle. The term “axial” describes a window on the central axis; it specifies the position of the window mentioned at the three-sided choir termination.

The François-Noblat Monument commemorates the shooting of the mayor in 1870. It was erected at the site of the shooting on September 21, 1890; thus, twenty years passed between the event and the monument’s erection.

Farmstead and former local functions

The historic farmstead of Chaalis Abbey includes the 19th-century town hall and agricultural buildings arranged around a courtyard. The buildings were renovated and converted into rental apartments. At 2 Rue de Maincourt, three 17th-century pillars supported two adjacent gates to the farmstead. The conversion of the agricultural buildings connects their former function with their current residential use.

In the former town hall and school building on Rue du Vivier, the functions were divided between floors: the school was on the ground floor and the town hall upstairs. This arrangement assigned educational and administrative duties to different floors of the same building. For decades, the well on Rue du Hamel was the center of the hamlet of La Russie in Longperrier. The 19th-century Calvaire de Longperrier stands at a crossroads where five roads meet; it may have served as a station along processions.
