Tours-Sur-Marne – Marne, Trails and Champagne
Accommodation in Tours-Sur-Marne
Tours-Sur-Marne can be explored from several angles: walks along the Marne and canal, a meadow landscape in a bend of the river, routes with specific stops, and the history of the village. Champagne is another highlight, with a cellar tour and tasting at a winery. When choosing a hotel for your trip, you can first decide whether nature, a village walk or a visit related to Champagne will shape your stay.
Meadows, the Marne and waterside walks
Nambly is a 14-hectare hay meadow in a bend of the Marne within Tours-Sur-Marne. The grounds are open to the public and feature a nature trail and a fitness course. Nature and exercise are therefore two distinct ways to enjoy the site. The canal and the Marne also invite you to take walks by the water. If you like to spend your trip outdoors, you can choose between the meadow, its two facilities and waterside walks.
Two routes, different time commitments
Two routes with different details are available to help you plan your time. Pratic’o is a 1.18 km orienteering course, with an estimated duration of 20 to 30 minutes. Completing it in full involves 14 checkpoints. Curiocity is a 3 km walking route through the village, suitable for beginners and featuring 10 stops. It takes about two to two and a half hours. Pratic’o is therefore the shorter option in terms of both stated distance and duration; Curiocity is the longer village route, with several stops. The formats also differ: checkpoints on the orienteering course and stops on the village walk.
Local history and the church
The historical route includes 16 information panels about the history of Tours-Sur-Marne. One specific historical detail concerns Sainte-Madeleine Church, formerly known as Saint-Genest. The organ in the current church was built by Émile Déjardin around 1862. It was intended for the new church, which had already been consecrated in 1858. This places the organ’s creation in the early history of the church building. The route and its panels offer a way to explore local history, while the organ marks a specific chapter in the church’s history.
Champagne and viticulture
In Tours-Sur-Marne, Champagne Lamiable offers a cellar tour followed by a tasting of three of its own cuvées. Check booking requirements and availability before your trip. The winery is a family business in a Grand Cru village in the Côte des Noirs wine-growing area. Champagne Brisson-Lahaye offers a different perspective on viticulture: its vines are spread across several terroirs, namely the Montagne de Reims, the southern slopes of Épernay and the Marne Valley. For visitors, the difference is that Lamiable offers a specific cellar tour and tasting, while Brisson-Lahaye illustrates the geographical spread of viticulture through its three growing areas.
