Discover Blois
Accommodation in Blois
Blois brings together historic, artistic and river-related visitor experiences. The offerings differ both in theme and format: a tour of royal apartments, an audiovisual show, art venues, and activities on and along the Loire each offer a different focus.
Royal Château: apartments and audiovisual show
The tour of the Château royal de Blois includes the royal apartments. The 2026 programme also features the 45-minute audiovisual Son et Lumière show “Ainsi Blois vous est conté”. Seasonal dates and performance details may change, so check which shows are scheduled for your travel dates. The two offerings have different focuses: the tour includes the royal apartments, while the show presents an audiovisual experience. This means you can include the château in your plans in two different ways.
Magic at the Maison de la Magie
Another focus is the Maison de la Magie. It presents the history of magic through unique objects that belonged to the master Robert-Houdin or other great magicians. The offering also includes an interactive room and a live magic show. This visitor experience therefore covers both the history and provenance of the objects, as well as interaction and performance. If you are considering what kind of cultural experience interests you, this differs from a château tour or an art trail. The visitor programme may change over time, so check in advance which performances are scheduled for your visit.
Fluxus and contemporary art
The permanent tour at the Fondation du doute is dedicated to Fluxus, an international art movement of the 20th century. The Fondation du doute is a contemporary art venue in Blois, located in the premises of a former monastery dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. Different time periods therefore come together here: the tour focuses on a particular 20th-century art movement, while the Fondation puts contemporary art at its centre. The building’s former use as a monastery provides another historical point of reference. Compared with the Maison de la Magie, the Fondation focuses on art and art movements rather than magic and its objects.
Experience the Loire by boat or bike
The Observatoire Loire offers boat trips on the Loire in Blois. Trips can be booked, although availability may vary depending on the time of year. Check in advance which trips are offered for your travel dates. La Loire à Vélo also starts in Blois and offers 60 km of cycle paths along the Loire. For an outing connected with the river, the options mainly differ in how you get around: a trip on the water or cycling along the Loire. You can decide whether you would rather incorporate a boat trip or a cycling activity into your stay.
Explore Blois on foot: Les Petits Clous
Les Petits Clous consists of four walking routes through several historic districts of Blois. Bronze plaques mark the routes. This offering differs from the individual cultural venues: the focus is on moving through several districts, rather than on a single exhibition or château visit. If you like to structure your city exploration as a walk, you can include these routes as a separate part of your plans.
