In Préporché, landscape, trails and architecture offer distinct interests for visitors. Saint-Pierre Church provides a cultural point of interest, while hiking and cycling routes offer other ways to plan a stay.

Landscape and views

Green, wooded hills of the Morvan surround Préporché; the village is also close to the Dragne and Vandenesse rivers. Numerous viewpoints offer views of the Morvan mountains. The rivers and viewpoints provide different ways to orient yourself in the landscape: one highlights the location near two waterways, the other the views of the mountains.

Hiking trails with different destinations

The 11-kilometre Circuit de l'étang Boiré loop passes through hamlets around Préporché. The route leads to the Étang Boiré and then follows the pond’s shore. On the return towards Préporché, it reaches the village’s first houses. By contrast, the La Perle du Morvan walking route follows a two-kilometre path to Préporché. The route details therefore differ in more than length: the Circuit de l'étang Boiré is a loop, while the La Perle du Morvan path leads to the village. Check local trail conditions before setting out. The Boiré loop is 11 kilometres long, while the La Perle du Morvan route to Préporché is two kilometres; the nine-kilometre difference helps you compare the length of each route when planning.

Saint-Pierre: Portal and stained-glass windows

The present-day Saint-Pierre Church in Préporché dates from the 16th century and preserves the Romanesque portal of its predecessor. The building thus connects to the 16th century while retaining the portal of an earlier structure. Eight notable contemporary stained-glass windows explore the theme of the four seasons. They were designed by artist Isabel Michel with the support of master glazier Guy Méliava. The seasons provide a shared design theme for the windows; the Romanesque portal points to the history of the earlier building.

Cycling through the southern Morvan

The Circuit vélo des eaux du Morvan follows small, lightly trafficked roads. Its landscape includes broadleaf forests, pastureland and small villages in the southern Morvan. On the return journey, the route passes through Préporché and continues to Saint-Honoré-les-Bains. Check current local route conditions before setting out by bike.

For planning, you can compare different features: the Circuit de l'étang Boiré is described by its length, loop format and route to the pond; the Circuit vélo des eaux du Morvan is described by its road conditions, landscape and return journey. This helps you compare the routes by mode of travel and tour profile.
