If you are looking for a hotel in Sierentz, you can consider in advance which of these aspects of the town best suits your plans.

Hochkirch and the history of the church

At the northern entrance to Sierentz lies the Hochkirch cemetery. It surrounds a chapel on the site of the former mother church of Saint-Martin. The origins of the former Hochkirch church date back to the 7th and 8th centuries, during the Christianization of the Sundgau. The church was demolished in 1835, and its stones were reused to build the present parish church. The former church site and the later reuse of its building materials thus represent two different chapters in the town's history. The grave of François Joseph Müller is also located in Hochkirch cemetery. The tomb was made by Joseph Barta of Rouffach.

Chapels and historic buildings

The Chapelle Saint-Wendelin is located on route de Kembs in Sierentz. It bears the date 1897 and was restored in 1988. The date and the year of restoration refer to two different points in time. Other addresses also offer evidence of different uses of buildings: the former courthouse at 17 rue Rogg Haas dates from the German period. The former seigneurial faience manufactory at 2 rue Sainte-Marie dates from the 18th century.

The Maison de la Bascule adds another chapter to the town's history, reflecting the former use of a farm. It is a restored former farm with a scale for weighing grain carts. The building includes a living room with a tiled stove, as well as meeting rooms. If you would like to see the interior, confirm access before your visit.

Walking and cycling
