Witternheim can be considered for travel planning in terms of specific routes, landscape features and events. When choosing a hotel for your stay, you can first decide which of these themes best suits your plans: a hike, a bike ride, an event in the village or the town centre.
Hiking, Cycling and the Regional Setting
The âCircuits Rund um Wettraâ comprise three hiking routes. Route number 1 is 7.9 km long and marked with a red circle. Check the markings on site if you want to follow this route. If you are deciding between hiking and cycling, Route 1 offers a specific distance, while the cycle path passes through the village.
The Grand Ried lies between Strasbourg and Colmar and is bordered by the Ill and the Rhin. In this region, there are opportunities to get around on foot, by bicycle, by boat or by canoe.

Town Centre and Events
The Church of Saint-Sébastien is in the centre of Witternheim. Its location provides a local landmark alongside the landscape features and routes.
The FĂȘte du Tilleul is a traditional festival at the beginning of summer, held beneath the lime tree. The programme includes a musical lunch with Les Riedtaler. Exact dates may change; if you would like to combine your trip with the festival, check the date of the relevant edition.
Another regular event is the Oktoberfest evening, organised every year by Witternheim Basketball in the Witternheim sports hall. The menu includes sauerkraut, dessert and coffee. The date, programme and menu may vary from one edition to another. If this evening is a key part of your trip, plan around the date of the relevant edition.
The difference is useful when choosing when to travel: the FĂȘte du Tilleul takes place at the beginning of summer, while the Oktoberfest evening is held every year. The specific dates of both events may change.
