Gundershoffen combines an interactive pretzel experience with walking opportunities, historic sites and cultural activities. If you’re looking for a hotel in Gundershoffen, it helps to decide what you want to focus on during your stay first: Would you like to learn about pretzel-making, stroll through the hilly countryside, or explore history and culture?

Pretzel-Making and Tasting

La Fabrique à Bretzels is an interactive visitor experience covering 500 m² and dedicated to the Alsatian art of pretzel-making. Visitors can watch Boehli pretzels being made, from preparing the dough to packaging. The visit also includes a tasting at the Bretzel’Bar. This experience puts both the production process and the taste at its heart. If you plan to include this activity, check the latest operating details before your visit.

Hills, Views and Hiking Routes

Gundershoffen is set among the hills on the edge of the Northern Vosges massif, between the Falkensteinerbach and the Lauterbach. Walks along the heights and hills offer views of the Vosges. This gives your trip a clear focus on the landscape without requiring you to commit to a specific route.

A hiking trail passes successively through Gundershoffen, Froeschwiller and Reichshoffen. A circular hiking route through varied landscapes in the Alsace Verte area connects the same three places. The circular route is explicitly described as a loop; check route conditions and access in advance for both trails.

Jewish Heritage and Church Architecture

Gundershoffen’s Jewish cemetery was established in 1815. The older section, dated from 1815 to 1932, contains 739 graves and 294 empty plots. The new section has been in use since 1924. The dates overlap: use of the new section began while the older section was still dated through 1932.

The Catholic Church of Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur was built in 1908, after the shared use of what is now the Protestant church came to an end. It is designed in the neo-Romanesque style. Its architecture includes a nave with five bays and a semicircular apse. The bays divide the nave into sections; the apse forms the semicircular end of the church.
