Ďurďové: Nature, cultural heritage and Farma Ekoraj
Accommodation in Ďurďové
Ďurďové lies between the Strážovské vrchy and Súľovské vrchy mountain ranges. This helps place the destination geographically; at the same time, local interests range from nature and outdoor activities to the chapel, local history and offerings at Farma Ekoraj. If you’re looking for a hotel in Ďurďové, you can base your choice on what you want to focus on during your trip: an outing, history or a visit to the farm.
Cycling, nature trail and nature
A cycling route runs through Ďurďové, and a nature trail leads to the cross on Dolné skálie, just above the village. Check the current trail signs on site before planning a trip. The protected plants Slovak pasqueflower and naked-stemmed primrose are also found in Ďurďové. If you’re travelling specifically to see these plants, check their distribution before your visit.
Chapel and local history
The Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is a single-nave Baroque-Classical building with a barrel vault and lunettes. A barrel vault is a lengthwise, arched ceiling; lunettes are arched surfaces associated with a vault. This describes the architecture not only by its style, but also by its spatial and vault forms.
The chapel’s interior furnishings date from the 18th and 19th centuries. It was reconstructed from 1988 to 1990. These dates refer to different aspects: the dating of the furnishings and the later period of reconstruction. A wooden log-built bell tower dating from the 19th century is also part of the local cultural heritage.
Agriculture and basket weaving were among the livelihoods of local residents. Another topic in the area’s history is a Slavic inhumation burial site from the time of Great Moravia, discovered in the territory of Ďurďové.
Farma Ekoraj: Fishing, horseback riding and farm shop
At the Farma Ekoraj fishpond, you can enjoy sport fishing on a catch-and-release basis. Carp and trout can be purchased in accordance with the current price list. Check the applicable rules before fishing. Visitors also have access to an equipped pavilion and toilets in a building above the pond. As operating conditions may change, confirm these visitor facilities in advance if they’re important to your plans.
The Farma EKORAJ Ďurďové farm shop offers fresh cow’s milk, full-fat curd cheese, white full-fat yoghurt, butter and “Kravské nite” cheese for personal collection. If you plan to collect products, it’s a good idea to check that the items you want are available.
Farma Ekoraj also offers horseback riding for children and adults. Check whether the activity is available on your travel dates before you set out. This lets you plan a visit to the farm as part of your trip without treating fishing, product collection and horseback riding as the same offering.
Plan your trip and hotel search around your interests
When looking for a hotel in Ďurďové, it helps to set a clear priority: Would you mainly like to explore the chapel and local history, plan a route or enjoy what Farma Ekoraj has to offer? These priorities give your trip planning direction and help you compare specific hotel options based on the criteria that matter for your stay.
