Stropkov can be explored through several tangible traces of its history. At its centre is the Church of Najsvätejšieho Tela Pána, on a slight rise within the grounds of the former castle. The imposing church tower stands on the church’s south side; the Kaštieľ Stropkov recalls the medieval town castle. This gives visitors a choice of different points of interest: sacred architecture, a viewpoint and a historic museum site. If you are looking for a hotel in Stropkov, considering which of these topics interests you most can help shape your trip.

Church and Church Tower

The parish church of Najsvätejšieho Tela Pána dates from the 14th century. The imposing rectangular church tower on its south side, by contrast, has an exact construction date: it was built in 1593 in the Renaissance style and has seven storeys. The church and tower thus represent different historical periods. From the tower’s viewing platform, just under 30 metres above the ground, the view extends across the surrounding area. Architecture and the view offer two different points of interest for visitors.

Tickets for the Stropkov church tower are available at the Stropkov Tourist Information Centre in the town hall, Hlavná 38/2, or online at www.veza.stropkov.sk. Among the church’s medieval furnishings is a Gothic monstrance dating from 1527. Several dates can therefore be distinguished: the parish church’s association with the 14th century, the monstrance from 1527 and the tower’s construction in 1593.

The Former Town Castle in the Kaštieľ

The Kaštieľ Stropkov is the last surviving secular part of the former town castle. The medieval castle to which the Kaštieľ belongs was built by the Peréňovci in the 15th century. “Secular” here refers to the non-religious part of the castle. The Kaštieľ and the church thus represent different historical connections: the former town castle and the sacred history of the church grounds.

The ground floor and attic of the Kaštieľ are used for museum purposes. This use adds a specific function to the building’s historical significance. Together with its connection to the castle, this offers a distinct point of interest for anyone interested in the city’s history beyond the church and its tower.

Another Place to Visit

The entire grounds of Park zvierat are accessible to people with reduced mobility. This information supplements the historical details with a practical note about the site as a whole. Alongside the church, tower and Kaštieľ, Stropkov therefore offers another kind of point of interest to consider when planning a trip.

Find a Hotel to Match Your Interests

The places mentioned appeal to different interests: the church tower combines Renaissance architecture with views of the surrounding area, the church offers historical connections ranging from the 14th century to the 1527 monstrance, and the Kaštieľ leads to the history of the town castle. If you are looking for hotels in Stropkov, you can first consider which of these points of interest you want to shape your stay. This can help you define the purpose of your trip more clearly before comparing specific hotel offers according to your own criteria.
