Mlynceky lies in the Poprad Basin, at the eastern foot of the High Tatras, and stretches along the left bank of the Biela voda stream. Under a Slovak government regulation from 2026, Mlynceky is part of the protected zone of Tatranský národný park (Tatra National Park). This legal designation may be adjusted through later changes to the boundaries or zoning. Cycling, hiking and local history offer different ways to enjoy a stay in Mlynceky.

Cycling on the Podtatranská cyklomagistrála

The signposted Podtatranská cyklomagistrála passes through Mlynceky and runs from Podbanské to Kežmarok. Its total length is 47.5 km. This figure applies to the entire cycling route, while its connection to the village is that it passes through Mlynceky. For cycle tourists, this places the village along a named route with clearly defined endpoints. Comparing it with the Kelerov chodník also shows the difference in scale: one is a longer cycling route, the other a walking trail.

Walking the Kelerov chodník

The Kelerov chodník is 2 km long and starts in Mlynceky at the car park by the church. It follows an easy forest path with several rest areas and benches. Compared with the cycling route’s 47.5 km, the stated distance is considerably shorter; the two figures also refer to different activities. The starting point at the car park by the church provides a specific landmark for the trail. Along the way, the forest path and places to rest are among its described features. If you would like to include a walk in your travel plans, you can consider the Kelerov chodník as a distinct, clearly defined trail option.

Local history and events

Mlynceky was already known as a spa in 1896. A former water mill was converted into the holiday resort “Tatra ház.” The church is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist; it was consecrated on 8 November 1970. The church also serves as a landmark for the car park where the Kelerov chodník begins. The mill’s conversion marked a change from its former use as a water mill to a holiday resort, “Tatra ház.”

Local facilities also include two ski lifts. If you are considering them for your travel plans, check in advance whether they are currently operating. The local mlyn-gym is also used by visitors; Bistro Gól serves food in Mlynceky.

The “Memoriál Jožka Mačičáka” football tournament is held annually in Mlynceky. If you would like to combine a trip with the tournament, check the date of that year’s event. The 23rd edition of the Tatranská pätnástka running event took place on 14 June 2026 at 10:00. The program for that edition included a 15 km main race, a 4 km race for young people and children’s races. While the football tournament is held annually, the date and program details for Tatranská pätnástka refer to the 2026 edition.
