Discover Ludrová
Accommodation in Ludrová
A trip to Ludrová offers several distinct points of interest: churches and papermaking, hikes through the Hučiaky Gorge, and natural and historical traces on the hills. When planning, it makes a difference whether cultural sites, a hiking route or the landscape itself is your main focus.
Churches and papermaking
The church in Kút belongs to the Liptov Museum and is open to the public. As opening hours may vary, please check the current hours before your visit. The municipality of Ludrová built and operates the Museum of Handcrafted Papermaking. It continues the papermaking tradition of lower Liptov; visitors can interactively try out the entire process of making paper by hand.
The museum is housed in a wooden building and is located near the Medokýš mineral spring. The spring is on the edge of Ludrová, in the Močilá area, 50 metres from the built-up area. You can reach the spring via the paved road leading to the museum.
The church on Stráňa Hill is another distinct church landmark: it is accessible via a covered staircase. To find your way, it helps to distinguish between the two churches: the church in Kút belongs to the Liptov Museum, while the church on Stráňa is accessed via the covered staircase.
Hiking and cycling
The Salatín circular hike includes crossing the Hučiaky Gorge and climbing an isolated mountain with beautiful views. The trail through the gorge leads from Ludrová into the Salatín National Nature Reserve and onwards to Mount Salatín. The “Do tiesňavy Hučiaky” route starts and ends at the “Ludrová,,otočka” bus stop. These details serve different planning needs: for the circular hike, the gorge crossing, climb and views are the highlights; for “Do tiesňavy Hučiaky,” the bus stop is the start and end point.
No marked cycling route runs through Ludrová itself. However, a blue-marked cycling route passes the Church of All Saints in Kút. It comes from Ružomberok and continues east via Liptovská Štiavnica and Liptovské Sliače towards Partizánska Ľupča. This distinction is important when choosing a route: the marked route passes the church in Kút, not through Ludrová itself.
Nature and history
Travertine formations can be found on Čerená Hill, while the Ludrovianka stream has many beautiful meanders. These are distinct natural features: geological formations on the hill and a winding stream. The remains of an important hillfort also lie on Pancová Hill near Ludrová; its origins date back to the Bronze Age. The region’s early history is therefore also one of the themes of a stay in Ludrová.
Event with a year reference
The “Beh Ludrovskou dolinou” race was held for the third time in 2026; it started at the OŠK Ludrová football stadium. If you are planning to attend a future edition, check the dates and starting point in advance. Event dates may change, and the starting point may also differ in future editions.
