Senec combines the Slnečné jazerá and the leisure activities they offer with cultural attractions relating to the city’s history and events. When planning your trip, you can choose different priorities: time by the water, a visit to the Aquapark, or a look at the city’s history. The following places and activities can help you choose your destination and plan your stay.

Slnečné jazerá: Water, Beach and Activities

The Slnečné jazerá cover a water area of nearly 120 hectares. There are opportunities for swimming, water sports, boating and fishing. Along the shore, you’ll find grassy beaches and a gently sloping entry into the water. The average water temperature is 25 °C; however, bathing conditions and water temperature can vary by season.

The range of activities caters to different interests: in addition to swimming, boating, water sports and fishing are among the options at the lakes. When planning, you can decide whether to spend most of your time in the water or include other activities. The shoreline and grassy beaches add specific features of the bathing area to the picture.

Aquapark Senec: Pools and Water Temperatures

Aquapark Senec is open year-round. Water from a borehole, at a temperature of 28 to 38 °C, is used in six different pools. During the summer season, the number increases to as many as eleven pools. There is also a 25-meter swimming pool and the LAZY RIVER water attraction.

The temperature figures describe two different options: the average water temperature at the Slnečné jazerá is 25 °C, while the Aquapark’s pools use water heated to 28 to 38 °C. Operating arrangements and the seasonal number of pools may change, so check the latest information before your visit. The LAZY RIVER may also be available seasonally.

Travel Between the Lakes and the City Center on the Senec Express

In summer, the Senec Express tourist train connects the Slnečné jazerá with Senec city center. It runs daily from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., making a 7.3-kilometer loop around the lakes at regular hourly intervals. The starting point and terminus are at Senec’s main square.

This provides a connection between the lake area and the city center that you can factor into your daily plans. Since the service is seasonal and may change, it’s a good idea to check the current timetable in advance. The stated loop route and its starting and ending points can help you include the train in your plans without assuming a specific journey time.

City History and Events

Turecký dom, a Renaissance manor house commissioned by Bratislava County Prefect Krištof Baťán and built between 1556 and 1560, stands in the central square. Today, the building houses the Senec City Museum and the local tourist information office. One place thus brings together a historic building and two present-day functions.

Senec also presents a permanent exhibition on the nature and earlier history of the city and its surroundings. It complements the focus on the architecture of Turecký dom with themes from natural and regional history. Senecké leto is a traditional social and cultural event that has opened the summer tourism season at the Slnečné jazerá since 1990. It takes place in mid-June on the southern side of the lakes; the exact event dates may vary. If you’d like to plan your stay around this event, check the dates for the relevant edition.

Whether you’re drawn to the lakes, the Aquapark or the city’s history, Senec offers several different starting points for planning your trip. Use these highlights to find hotels in Senec for your trip, and compare the details of each option.
