Turecká combines mountain hikes, mountain biking trails and local traditions. Specific route profiles can help you plan: they show whether you are considering a climb to the summit or a longer loop hike. Travel information and seasonal notes are also useful.

Krížna: summit, panorama and geology

At 1,574 metres, Krížna is the third-highest peak of the Great Fatra. Its treeless massif offers sweeping panoramic views. Historically, there were four sheepfolds on the bare massif.

The Velká Fatra nature trail starts at a car park in Turecká, follows a yellow-marked path to the trailhead at Pod Líškou, and ends at Chata pod Borišovom. Nine stops explain the different relief patterns in rocks of the Choč and Krížna nappes. Check trail markings and conditions on site before planning your hike.

Hiking routes and tour profiles

The climb from Saľaška in Turecká to Krížna is listed as 4.2 kilometres, 2 hours 38 minutes and 787 metres of elevation gain. These figures may change slightly as maps are updated. Three red-marked hiking trails meet at the summit.

A classic loop hike from Turecká via Kráľova studňa is about 18.5 kilometres long and has 1,100 metres of elevation gain. The figures describe different tour profiles: a summit climb in one case and a loop hike in the other. When comparing the options, distance, elevation gain and route type can help guide your planning, but the two routes should not be treated as equivalent.

There are short outings, longer hikes and multi-day tours around Turecká. Mountain biking trails connect valleys with more distant destinations such as Kráľova Studňa. Since the route network may change, check the current route if you are planning a specific ride.
