The landscape of Perișani is shaped by a depression framed by mountain ridges, rock formations and gorges. Named routes, historic sites and traditional crafts add further dimensions to the destination.

A landscape between mountain ranges and gorges

Perișani lies in an intramontane depression framed by the ridges of the Munții Negoiului and the Masivul Cozia. The Cozia Massif is a rocky Carpathian formation with unusual rock formations. Within the commune, Pripoare de Jos lies in a gorge through which the Valea Băiașului winds between Culmea Mamurilor and the Masivul Cozia. Nearby, the small gorge of Pripoare, on the Băiașu stream, separates the Cozia Massif from the Poiana Spinului ridge. This distinction is useful for orientation: the depression describes the setting of Perișani, while at Pripoare the stream, gorge and ridge form a specific relationship.

Named routes and their courses

Several tourist routes provide specific points of reference for planning. One leads from Stâna La Mocirle to Poarta de Piatra; check its current trail markings locally. Another runs from Perișani via Poiana Lungă, Clăbucet, Coarneșu and Scara to Negoiu. The BR trail crosses the Cozia Massif, linking the Olt Valley with the Drumul Loviștei and passing by Cabana Cozia, where it makes a stop. The routes differ in their named reference points: the first focuses on two named destinations, the second on a sequence of places leading to Negoiu, and the BR trail on the connection between the valley, the massif and Drumul Loviștei. If you plan to take the route to Negoiu, it is advisable to check the current trail conditions in advance.

History and crafts

The church in Perișani is listed as a historic monument. The wooden church, Biserica de Lemn, in Perișani was built around 1797–1799. In the commune, near Pripoare, a monument at a road junction commemorates the Battle of Posada. These historical landmarks are associated with different things: the wooden church is dated by its construction period, while the monument is identified by the event it commemorates. The Perișani Tourist Information and Promotion Centre has an open-air museum in its courtyard. Traditional crafts, including woodworking and blacksmithing, are practised in Perișani. These include making wooden implements and wicker baskets. Dairy products are made in the village of Pripoare, in Perișani commune.

The “Dalia” ski slope

The “Dalia” ski slope lies at an altitude of 900 m between the villages of Perișani and Mlăceni. It is 750 m long and an average of 80 m wide. Before making specific plans, check whether the slope is currently operating. The ski slope is therefore considerably longer than it is wide.
