The options differ in route, mode of transport and culinary offerings. This helps you assess Cheia based on the activities that matter for your trip.

A multifunctional venue in Cheia

The Transylvania Amphitheater at Cheia 62C is a multifunctional venue with accommodation, a restaurant, an event space, a recreation area and a viewpoint.

E-bikes and cycling routes

E-bikes are available at Cheile Grădiștei for self-guided outings without a guide. Guided e-bike tours lasting two to four hours are also offered. Reservations and availability may change; check these details in advance if you are planning a tour. When deciding, consider whether you prefer to ride independently or take a guided tour lasting two to four hours.

Cycling route 03MB35 follows a paved road through Cheia and offers many viewpoints overlooking Piatra Craiului and Bucegi. The approach via Cheia also takes the route through the Cheile Grădiștei gorge, cut into the rock. The Blue Flow Line is a moderately difficult 2.93-kilometre MTB trail running from the Fundata resort to the Moieciu resort.

Different details matter when comparing cycling options: for guided e-bike tours, the two-to-four-hour duration; for the Blue Flow Line, its length and difficulty; and for 03MB35, its paved route through Cheia and its viewpoints. This helps you decide whether to focus your plans on a tour with a set duration, an MTB trail or a paved cycling route with views.

Hiking to the Amphitheater

An easy marked hiking trail leads from Moieciu de Sus to a viewpoint and the Transylvania Amphitheater, then descends to the village of Cheia and returns to Moieciu de Sus by road. The T9 ecotourism trail also leads to the amphitheater on foot; it can be reached from Cheia by mountain bike. The full route, the walking route to the amphitheater and the mountain-bike access from Cheia therefore differ in their course and mode of transport.

Food and culture

The ā€œAdormirea Maicii Domnuluiā€ church is of cultural and historical interest in Cheia; it is listed under LMI code BV-II-m-A-11633. Restaurant Moieciu serves Romanian dishes, including a generous wild game platter, Balmeș and Bulz, veal stew cooked in a cauldron, Pomana porcului, and Papanași with sour cream and jam. Menu details may change. If a particular dish is important to your travel plans, check the current menu in advance. An older municipal strategy mentions a weekly market held on Fridays in the commune of Moieciu, where local producers sell agricultural products and food, weather permitting. Check before travelling whether the market is currently operating.
