When planning a trip, Akkerhaugen offers several specific highlights: a boat trip across Norsjø and through the locks of the Telemark Canal, cycling routes, water sports at the cable park, and activities at Lien Gård. If you are looking for a hotel, it helps to decide first which of these activities you want to shape your stay. Practical arrangements differ—for example, due to seasonal operation, group bookings or timetables.

Boat trip on Norsjø and the Telemark Canal

The boat trip from Akkerhaugen to Lunde crosses the northern part of Lake Norsjø and passes through the Ulefoss, Eidsfoss and Vrangfoss lock systems. The trip therefore combines a crossing of the lake with three named lock systems. Operating dates may vary; check the timetable before setting a date.

Cycling route and canal boat trip

Blå idyll is a 32.8 km cycling route that can start at First Camp Norsjø. The route also includes Akkerhaugen brygge, one of seven canal bridges between Akkerhaugen and Notodden. Another option is the Fruit and Lock Route: it combines cycling with a historic boat trip and can start at Akkerhaugen brygge, right by the canal boat. Timetables and reservations may change; check both for your planned date.

The two routes have different focuses: the length is specified for Blå idyll, while the Fruit and Lock Route explicitly combines cycling with a historic boat trip. This helps you plan your tour around the kind of experience you want.

Water sports on Norsjø

The Norsjø Cable Park at First Camp Norsjø in Akkerhaugen has a 550 m low-noise cable system for wakeboarding, water skiing and kneeboarding. Rental equipment includes kneeboards, water skis, twin-tip skis, wakeboards and balance boards; wetsuits are also available to rent. The park operates seasonally. Check the operating season and availability of your preferred rental equipment before visiting.

Cider, farm shop and sauna at Lien Gård

Lien Gård welcomes groups for cider tastings and tours; contact the farm directly to confirm booking details. It produces cider, apple juice, lemonade, jam and honey. The farm also has a self-service farm shop. As opening arrangements may change, check them before visiting.

At Lien Gård, you can also book a sauna for a refreshing dip in Norsjø followed by a sauna session. Availability may change, so it is a good idea to check for your planned date. Group visits, the farm shop and sauna use each have their own practical arrangements—plan according to what you would like to do at Lien Gård.

Guest harbours and boat supplies

Akkerhaugen Båthavn guest harbour has ten visitor berths as well as toilets, water and electricity. Fees and facilities may change; check the details before you arrive. Another guest harbour is at First Camp Norsjø. It offers electricity for private boats, as well as a petrol and diesel pump. Check fuel and service availability again before your trip.
