In Lodalen, high mountains, dramatic waterfalls, intensely green Lovatnet and the glacier in the background shape the landscape. The valley lies west of Jostedalsbreen, and hiking and canoeing are possible here. Check local conditions for your planned activities before you travel.

Scenery, hikes and trails

Fishing is free at Lovatnet. Check local regulations before fishing. In Oldedalen, hiking options range from easy walks to more challenging mountain hikes. This range makes the type of hike you have planned a useful starting point for planning your day.

The Loen Skylift takes visitors nearly 1,000 metres up to a restaurant on the edge of Mount Hoven. Water and outdoor activities

Kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and rowing are possible on the local waterway at Hjelle. At Oldevatnet, you can go kayaking and canoeing, as well as take relaxed boat trips; equipment can be rented at several points along the lake. Equipment availability may vary. Olden Active offers guided kayak trips and RIB rafting on the fjord from Olden; availability is seasonal. This lets you choose water activities based on the kind of experience you want: trips on the lake with possible equipment rental, or guided excursions from Olden.

The mountain biking trail network between Ullsheim and Stryn passes through gently rolling terrain with mountain pastures and views of the fjord and mountains. Trail conditions may vary, so factor this into your plans. Hydlaparken has treetop climbing courses, ziplines and a pump track.
