Accommodation in Hareid
Hareid brings together sauna visits, a white wooden church and the Rotarystien through protected natural areas. If you’re looking for a hotel for your trip to Hareid, these varied attractions offer starting points for planning: from the sauna near the centre to a roughly 5.5-kilometre path through protected areas.
Sauna by the harbour
The Hareid Sauna is located at Hareid Hamn Gjestebrygge, just a short walk from the centre of Hareid. Private sessions for up to twelve people can be booked; alternatively, you can share the sauna with others. The experience includes the warmth of the sauna, views of the fjord landscape and the option of a refreshing dip in the sea. Booking arrangements may change, so check the current options in advance.
Church and local history
Hareid’s white wooden church, dating from 1877, is a landmark of the municipality. A church has stood at this site since the Middle Ages. Several cultural heritage signs near Hareid Church provide information about the church, the churchyard and Hareid. Here, a 19th-century building meets the history of an older church site.
Walk or cycle along the Rotarystien
The Rotarystien is an easy walking route of about 5.5 kilometres. It runs from the road at Kaldholen to the river mouth by the sea at Indre Hareid, and can be used on foot or by bicycle. There are several possible access points along the route, as needed. The route passes through the Grimstadvatnet Wildlife Protection Area and the Grimstadvatnet Nature Reserve. It is relatively flat and suitable for most people. When planning, you can consider the route length, mode of travel and access point together.
At the Hareidelva, you can fish for trout and salmon during the fishing season with a fishing licence. The season and fishing licence are conditions for this activity.
