A historic road, Perletur hikes with varying difficulty ratings, and a protected bird cliff give Loppa several concrete reasons to visit. In summer, hiking and cycling are among the activities in Øksfjordbotn; at Sandland, the focus is on enjoying the beach and sea. On Loppa øy, a historic fishing village and sandy beaches used by visitors add to the picture.

Hikes for Different Destinations and Abilities

In summer, the Øksfjord-nærturområde has five Perletur hikes, as well as another Perletur hike to Moloen. The number of routes may change, so if you are planning a particular hike, it is worth checking the current route information. On Loppa øy, the Perletur hike to Rektinden reaches an elevation of 280 metres above sea level. In summer, Øksfjordbotn is also used for hiking and cycling, and as a starting point for longer mountain hikes. Summit hikes are undertaken at Kollaren. The hike to Breitinden on the south side of Rivgojávri/Jomfrudalsvatnet has a different difficulty rating: it is very challenging.

In the 2026 Perletur programme, hikes in Loppa range from easy green routes to very challenging black routes. Blue and red routes are rated from low to moderate difficulty. Ratings and route offerings may change. The Perletur hikes are organised jointly by Loppa Municipality, the Finnmark Friluftsråd, and several local sports and village associations. The trail network and participating partners may also change over time.

Coast, Sea and Protected Area

The beach area at Sandland is used for swimming and paddling. In the Sandland, Bergs- and Langfjorden sea area, visitors go on whale safaris and enjoy recreational and tourist fishing. Availability from operators may change; check in advance if any of these activities are part of your plans. Loppa øy is a historic fishing village, and its sandy beaches are used by visitors.

The Loppa Nature Reserve protects a significant bird cliff and its associated plant communities, birdlife and other animal species. Motorised traffic on land is prohibited in the protected area. Camping, pitching tents and setting up camouflage structures are also prohibited there.
