Discover Eggedal: Art, culture and MĂĄlargutua
Accommodation in Eggedal
If you’d like to combine hiking with art history, Eggedal offers several points of interest: Målargutua passes the former homes of two artists, and Eggedal Mølle is also along the route. Galleries, a church and other cultural sites round out the experience.
Målargutua: hiking between artists’ homes
The approximately 10-kilometre hiking trail Målargutua runs between Theodor Kittelsen’s former home at Sole (1896–1899) and Christian Skredsvig’s former home at Hagan (1894–1924); along the way, it passes Eggedal Mølle. The route crosses idyllic scenery and passes several well-known motifs. Information boards, quiet spots and rest areas are located along the trail. In 2026, the section between the centre of Eggedal and Eggedal Mølle was established as a hiking trail. Trail conditions may vary.
