Road connections in Tuzi Ljevorečke

The municipal road Uvač–Tuzi Ljevorečke–Trebješnica is 9.0 kilometers long. Other roads lead from Ljevorječke Tuzi to Zalipa, Larišta and Podi: the connection to Zalipa is 1.0 kilometer long, the one to Larišta 1.5 kilometers and the one to Podi 4.5 kilometers. This makes Zalipa the shortest and Podi the longest of the three named connections, with Larišta in between.

Regional road sections are also connected with Tuzi Ljevorečke. A report on road resurfacing in 2021 included asphalt work on a 9-kilometer section between the Mateševo motorway interchange and Tuzi Ljevorečke. Resurfacing with asphalt was planned for 10 kilometers of the road from Tuzi Ljevorečke to Lopate.

River and hiking connections

The Trebješica is a tributary that rises in the Kosman area, passes through Tuzi Ljevorečke at an elevation of 343 meters and flows into the Sjevernica. The watercourse can therefore be identified both by its route through the town and by where it meets the river.

The CT-1 hiking traverse is also in the destination’s surrounding area. Established in 1987, it runs from Veruša via Žijevo, Komovi, Bjelasica and Sinjajevina to Crno jezero on Durmitor. The 172.5-kilometer route is designed for an eight-day hike, making it a multi-day undertaking. The Trebješica Gorge, also in the surrounding area, is among the gorges of interest for canyoning.

A glimpse of school history

A school branch in Tuzi Ljevorečke was founded in 1924. The former branch school was part of a network of school branches that had all ceased operations by the 2023/24 school year. The recorded dates thus reflect both an early link to local educational history and a later turning point in the operation of this school network.

Podgorica as a wider travel destination

As a wider travel destination, Podgorica offers its own urban cultural and sightseeing attractions. From 1474 to 1879, during the Ottoman period, the Old Town was Podgorica’s historic core. Its urban and architectural forms, customs, way of life and oriental features define its historical character; visitors can stroll along its cobbled streets.

The clock tower in Bećir-beg-Osmanagić Square, a landmark of the Old Town, was built in the 18th century by Hadži Mehmed-paša Osmanagić. The old stone bridge where the Ribnica meets the Morača is said to date from Roman times and is considered Podgorica’s oldest bridge. The remains of ancient Doclea offer another distinct historical highlight: they date from the first decade of the 1st century AD and lie four kilometers from the center of Podgorica, on a plateau between the Morača, Zeta and Širijana rivers.

For hiking enthusiasts, the 65-kilometer circular route around Korita also starts in Podgorica. It leads into the Kuči mountain region, to the edge of the Cijevna River gorge, and is Montenegro’s first fully marked panoramic trail. This makes it possible to distinguish Tuzi’s local road, river and historical connections from Podgorica’s distinct cultural and hiking attractions.
