When looking for a stay in Bigovo, specific local features can help you decide: the small beach by the harbor, access by road or, in summer, by water, and the hiking route between Plavi Horizont and Bigovo. This lets you choose your destination based on the activities that matter to you.

Harbor Beach

A small beach lies at the head of Bigovo harbor. The water is calm and sheltered, the shoreline is made up of pebbles and sand, and the seabed slopes gently. Conditions along the shore can vary by season, so take local conditions into account when planning a beach visit.

Getting to Bigova

An asphalt road connects Bigovo to the main Tivat–Budva road. Public transport is limited; traveling by car, scooter, or bicycle is considered practical. In summer, boats and water taxis provide access by sea. Traffic conditions and seasonal services may change. Before traveling, check the conditions for your route and the current boat services.

Hiking Route between Plavi Horizont and Bigovo

A description from 2014 lists the hiking route between Plavi Horizont and Bigovo as 12 kilometers long, cleared, marked, and signposted. Check the current condition of the trail and its signs before setting out.

Food and Dining

Bigova’s culinary profile includes fresh seafood and dishes made with the day’s catch, as well as blitva, bread baked in a wood-fired oven, and local wines such as Vranac or Krstac. The menu is not fixed; individual menu details may change. This cuisine is another aspect to consider, alongside the beach and activities, when choosing where to stay.

Tivat as the Wider Destination

The wider destination of Tivat offers more nature, culture, and activity options. Tivat City Park has been a protected natural area since 1968 and was declared a natural monument in 2015. Visitors can stroll in the shade of mature, sometimes exotic trees; some are up to 130 years old and 25 meters tall.

The coastal wetland of Solila covers about 150 hectares and lies across the Bay of Krtole from Tivat city center. Since 2013, it has been listed as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention and designated an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA). Solila is also a candidate for Emerald Network status under the Bern Convention.

Maritime Heritage and Culture in Tivat

The Maritime Heritage Collection in Porto Montenegro is a museum dedicated to Tivat’s maritime traditions and the Adriatic’s nautical past. Its submarine museum includes the P-821 Hero submarine, considered a former flagship of the Yugoslav Navy. The “Ethnographic Heritage of Tivat” collection presents exhibitions on art, ethnology, archaeology, and documentary subjects in the museum and gallery spaces of the medieval Buća complex.

Buća Luković is considered Tivat’s most monumental and best-preserved historic summer house of its kind and dates to the 14th century. The fortified, 15-meter-high tower of Buća Luković dates to 1548 and is now used as an art gallery. The wider destination of Tivat therefore offers a choice of cultural interests, from maritime collections to historic buildings and exhibitions.
