The Taujėnai Estate, its park and the beach by Taujėnai Pond lend different character to a stay: neoclassical architecture, a restored wooden granary, walks and an animal enclosure. If you choose Taujėnai as your destination, you can decide in advance whether its architectural history, park or pond is the main draw for you.

The Taujėnai Estate Manor House and Granary

The neoclassical manor house, which has survived to this day, was built at the end of the 18th century at the initiative of Benediktas Morikonis. It was designed by the Italian-born architect Pjetras de Rossis. The construction period and the architect’s name give the manor house a specific historical context; its neoclassical design creates a different impression from the estate’s wooden outbuildings.

A three-storey wooden granary stands in the park. It has been restored and is more than 200 years old. It is considered the only surviving granary of its kind in Lithuania. An exhibition of historical agricultural equipment is located right next to the building. The manor house, granary and exhibition offer different ways to explore the history of the estate: through its architecture, a surviving building and agricultural objects.

The Taujėnai Estate and its park are state-protected heritage sites. Visitors can join guided tours of the estate. If you plan to do so, check the current arrangements with the operator.

Walks, Animals and Places to Relax in the Park

The park invites visitors to walk along the pond shores, over bridges and among flower beds. A stone park and impressive old trees also contribute to the park’s character. These features offer distinctly different views: the scenery by the water and on the bridges differs from that among the flower beds or by the old trees. This makes a walk its own part of the visit, complementing views of the manor house and granary.

The small animal enclosure in the park is home to alpacas, a llama, a pony, a donkey, sheep, Cameroon goats, rabbits, white and pied peacocks, as well as various domestic and waterfowl. The animals offer another focus alongside the architecture and park landscape. The animals on view may vary.

The park has places to relax, with tables and barbecue facilities. Ask the operator in advance about current access arrangements. This lets you factor the park’s amenities into your plans without treating a guided tour, a walk and time spent in the relaxation areas as the same experience.

The Beach by Taujėnai Pond

The beach is on Taujėnai Pond, near the Taujėnai Estate. This adds another waterside location to the manor and park. Seasonal conditions and beach facilities may vary. If the pond is important to your travel plans, bear this in mind and check the current conditions before your visit.

Find a Hotel in Taujėnai

When deciding whether to visit Taujėnai, you can consider its different attractions: the manor house and exhibition offer a glimpse into architectural and estate history, the park offers walks and an animal enclosure, and the beach is a place to visit by the pond. If this combination suits your travel plans, search specifically for hotels in Taujėnai. Check the details and conditions relevant to your stay for each listing.
