Kastrosykiá is a destination for travelers who want to choose a beach stay based on specific landscape and water features. The beach’s amphitheater-like shape offers views of the coastal area of the Preveza regional unit and the sunset. When planning your trip, you can consider this view alongside the sand and the water’s depth profile. If you’re looking for hotels for your trip, check whether this beach profile suits your plans.

Beach Profile and Activities

The beach has shallow water that gradually gets deeper, fine sand, and a sandy seabed. Sand therefore characterizes both the beach and the underwater terrain; the water gets deeper gradually. These features give you specific points of reference for describing the beach not only by its views, but also by its water and seabed.

The shallow water and often light breeze are suitable for activities on the sea with a board or a small sailboat. A kitesurfing facility is located at “Μπούκα” on Kastrosykiá beach. If you’d like to include it in your plans, check in advance whether the facility is currently operating.

Getting to the Beach

The beach is accessible by car. If you plan to take a city KTEL bus, check the current timetable before setting out.

Preveza: Archaeological and Historical Highlights

Within the wider destination of Preveza, the archaeological site of Nikopolis has a main route and six secondary routes connecting nine monumental areas. The Archaeological Museum of Nikopolis presents the city’s history of more than a thousand years through various aspects of the private and public lives of its residents. The site and the museum have different focuses: the routes connect monumental areas, while the museum tells the story through the lives of the residents.

Preveza’s second coastal cycling route is about 10 kilometers long, has a low level of difficulty, and connects the city beach, Kiani Akti, Pantokratoras, the fishing harbor, Alonaki, and the settlement of Drosia. Road conditions can change; check them before your ride.

The Venetian Clock Tower, dating from 1752, stands in Preveza’s historic city center. The Church of Agios Athanasios is one of the oldest churches in Preveza. It was built during Venetian rule in the early 18th century and is known for rare frescoes from 1780. The date of construction and the frescoes can thus be considered as distinct points in time.

Pantokratoras Fortress was built in the early 19th century by Ali Pasha, based on plans by the French engineer Yadocourt. Its location was intended to provide full control of shipping at the entrance to the Amvrakikos Gulf. Agios Andreas Castle was designated a protected monument by ministerial decision in October 1980.
