Explore Fourfouras through a range of interests: mountain hikes, the village character and scenic spots in the surrounding area. When planning your trip, you can distinguish between destinations by their character: summit trails sit alongside old houses, a village spring and historic buildings.

Mountain hikes to two summits

A mountain hiking route starts at the police station in Fourfouras and leads to Timios Stavros at the summit of Psiloritis. Be sure to check the seasonal guidance on elevation for this hike. Another trail leads from Fourfouras to the summit of Korakia and is described as clearly visible; terrain and conditions can change. For your planning, different details matter: for Psiloritis, it is the seasonal guidance on elevation; for the Korakia trail, it is its visibility and the changing conditions.

Village character and architectural history

Several old houses with simple architecture are located in the western part of Fourfouras. The lower spring is also in the western part of the village. The houses offer a glimpse of the village character, while the spring is another landmark to help you find your way around.

The Panagia Kardiotissa Church stands in Livada. It dates from the 14th century and was once a nunnery. The church thus has both a specific historical context and a former monastic use. For those interested in culture, it offers a different focus from the simple architecture of the old houses in Fourfouras.

Fourfouras Natural Park

Fourfouras Natural Park lies in the western foothills of Psiloritis, one kilometre north of the village square. The village square is the reference point for this distance. The park has trails and a kiosk where you can rest. So, alongside summit hikes, you can also choose trails in a park as a distinct way to experience the landscape.

Caves in the surrounding area

The Hampathura and Leska caves are located near Fourfouras, on the steep slopes of Psiloritis above the village. The smaller Hampathura Cave is at an elevation of 1,460 metres and has one main chamber. A small cellar was built above it for maturing cheese. Leska Cave is at 1,390 metres and has several chambers that were once used by cheesemakers to mature cheese. It is difficult to reach. The two caves therefore differ both in their described structure and in their history of use. When planning your visit, take particular note that Leska Cave is difficult to reach. The difference in elevation is 70 metres: Hampathura, at 1,460 metres, is higher than Leska Cave, at 1,390 metres. The smaller cave is therefore also the higher of the two.
