Mõedaka offers several concrete options for an active trip: in winter, ski trails of varying lengths take centre stage, while in summer you can use the running and cycling routes. There is also a tennis court, opportunities for off-road driving and a camper parking area. For your planning, it is worth first considering the season. You can then weigh up whether trail lengths, running and cycling routes, or other sports facilities best suit your interests.

Winter ski trails and event route

When there is snow, the Mõedaku Sports Centre offers ski trails of varying lengths. Mõedaku’s winter fitness and ski trails include routes of 1, 2, 3, 5, 7.5 and 10 km; a 2.8 km route is illuminated. The range from 1 to 10 km makes shorter and longer distances easy to compare, while the lighting is an additional feature of the 2.8 km route. Trail configurations may change with maintenance. If your plans depend on a particular distance, check the current trail selection in advance.

The route listed for the 2026 edition of the Viru Maraton runs mostly along various ski and hiking trails in Mõedaku.

Summer routes and other activities

In summer, you can use Mõedaku’s running and cycling routes. This puts two types of route use in the foreground, whereas the winter information specifies particular ski trail lengths. This is a clear distinction when choosing between a summer and winter trip: running or cycling on routes in summer, and ski trails with stated distances in winter. Which seasonal activity suits you depends on when you travel and what kind of exercise you are looking for.

Mõedaku Puhkekeskus provides access to the adjacent motor off-road track for off-road driving. Enduro trips are also offered in cooperation with partners; this activity was added from May 2025. The two motor-related options differ in format: off-road driving involves using the adjacent track, while enduro involves a trip with partners. This distinction can help you choose the activity that best fits your travel plans.

The Mõedaku sports base has a sand-clay tennis court. Unlike the routes and motor off-road track, this is a court sport with a specified surface. When comparing activities, you can consider tennis separately from the ski trails with stated distances and the running and cycling routes.

Landscape and camper parking

Mõedaku Puhkekeskus is located in the Võlumäe-Linnamäe Landscape Protection Area. This protected-area designation adds a specific landscape context to the sports facilities at the site. If you want to take the location within a landscape protection area into account alongside activities when planning your trip, this is a separate point to consider.

Mõedaku Vabaajakeskus has a camper parking area for up to nine vehicles. Facilities include electrical hookups, water, toilets and an outdoor kitchen. For camper travel, capacity and facilities are practical planning considerations. If the parking area is a deciding factor for your trip, check its current availability in advance.
