Peetri: Sports, Trails and Local Events
Accommodation in Peetri
Peetri stretches between Tartu maantee and Vana-Tartu maantee. These roads provide an initial frame of reference when considering Peetri as a place to stay. There are several local highlights to consider for your trip: sports facilities, trails for exercise and learning, and local event days. When choosing a hotel, it may therefore be important to consider whether you are travelling to Peetri mainly for sports, outdoor trails or an event. The various offerings also differ in location, character and season.
Sports and exercise
Peetri Stadium has an artificial turf surface, and can be used for football, basketball and various track and field events. There are also some outdoor fitness equipment around the stadium. The options range from ball and team sports to track and field and outdoor fitness. Various ball sports can also be played at Peetri Sports Hall. Since 2016, the Peetri jooks has started at Peetri Sports Hall every summer. For a sports-focused stay, the options vary: the sports facilities offer specific sports and equipment in the stadium area, while the Peetri jooks is an annual summer event.
Trails with different focuses
The Terviserada in Peetri pargi spordipark starts and ends at the same point by the basketball area. The municipal trail development project dated 11 April 2025 describes the Järveküla–Ülemiste järve liikumisrajad as a nature, exercise and educational trail suitable for recreational use in the Järveküla and Peetri alevik area. The routes offer different points of reference: for the Terviserada, a shared start and end point in the park is specified; for the Järveküla–Ülemiste järve liikumisrajad, the focus is on their role as a nature, exercise and educational trail, and on the area they cover. You can compare the trails based on whether a specific point in the sports park or the routes’ thematic focus matters more to your plans.
Local event days
Peetri kodukohvikute päev traditionally takes place on the last Sunday in August. The 2026 local announcement highlights culinary delights, enticing aromas, a lively atmosphere and socialising. Peetri laadapäev focuses especially on local produce. The two events therefore have different emphases: kodukohvikute päev centres on food and socialising, while laadapäev focuses on produce. In terms of timing, kodukohvikute päev can be compared with Peetri jooks: the latter has started every summer since 2016, while kodukohvikute päev traditionally falls on the last Sunday in August. If you are planning your trip around an event day, check the specific date of that year’s event in advance.
