Částkov combines the cultural landscape of the Prakšická vrchovina Nature Park with historical traces and recurring local festivals. Information about cycling routes through the village may also be useful when planning your trip. This lets you consider Částkov in terms of the things that matter for your stay: landscape, local history, events or cycling.

Landscape around Částkov

Částkov borders the Prakšická vrchovina Nature Park directly. Its cultural landscape includes forests, permanent grassland, fields with copses, scrub, numerous old orchards, pastures and fragments of thermophilic steppe meadows. The village itself also has a specific connection to the landscape: Částkov lies in a valley where the Lovčice and Řásná streams merge to form the Částkovský potok. These two details highlight different aspects. The nature park describes the wider landscape around the village, while the streams’ confluence is part of the description of the valley where Částkov lies. This allows you to understand the surroundings both in terms of the broader natural area and through a local water feature.

The chapel and traces of the fortress

The Chapel of Panny Marie Lurdské was consecrated in 1898–1899. An earlier history is told by the Částkov site known as “Na hradě”: it consists of partially preserved terrain traces of a fortress built before 1321. The earthwork remains lie on the eastern edge of Částkov, a few dozen metres above the church and next to the municipal office building. This description provides specific directions to the surviving traces. A different date is important for the fortress’s later history: sources mention it as already demolished in 1497. The construction before 1321 and the mention in 1497 thus refer to different historical stages.

Žižkův dub and local traditions

The Žižkův dub stands southeast of Částkov in the Prakšická vrchovina Nature Park. Today, only a remnant of the tree remains. A local legend links the site to the army of Jan Žižka, which is said to have rested there for several days. The story should therefore be understood as a legend, while the surviving tree remnant is a distinct feature of the site today. If you plan to include this natural landmark in your trip, it may be worth checking its condition again before your visit. Another surviving example of local architectural history is a 19th-century agricultural chamber at house No. 37 in Částkov.

Festivals and cycling route information

Částkov holds the traditional Císařské hody s právem every year; a Fašank procession is also held annually. If you would like to plan your trip around either festival, check the specific dates in advance. For cyclists, marked local cycle route 5176 passes through Částkov; check the route number locally before setting out. The Podolí–Jarošov–Březolupy–Částkov–Prakšice–Hradčovice–Podolí route also passes through the village. These details offer two ways to find your bearings: a local route number and a sequence of places written out in full. This lets you use the relevant route name when planning your trip.
