Úsobí combines a distinctive local history with recurring music events and destinations in the surrounding area. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay in Úsobí, a visit to the castle, a festival date or a hike can shape your travel plans. The history of the churches and glassworks can be explored independently of the events calendar; for festivals, however, the dates for each year are what matter.

Church, Chapels and Crafts

The parish church of St. Peter and Paul, dedicated to the apostles, stands in Úsobí. Another historical trace leads to the Baroque Chapel of the Guardian Angels: it was built in 1715 and closed in 1783 as part of the Josephine reforms. It then gradually fell into its present ruinous state. The glassworks also form part of the town’s history. Potash glass was produced there first, followed later by lead crystal grinding. The history of sacred architecture and glassmaking offer different perspectives on the town’s past.

The ruins of the Chapel of the Guardian Angels lie about one kilometre south of the centre of Úsobí. A paved path leads to them; vehicles can be left at the start of the path by the cemetery. From the ruins, the view stretches across the surrounding area, and there is a covered tourist rest stop nearby. Check local conditions on the path and the state of the rest stop before your visit.

Music and Festivals Throughout the Year

The Úsobská muzikantská pouť takes place every year on the weekend closest to the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul. On each of the following three Sundays, Úsobské hudební léto includes an early-evening concert. The two event series are therefore linked in time, but have different schedules: the pilgrimage is followed by a concert series spanning three Sundays. As the exact dates vary from year to year, check the current events calendar if you want to plan your trip around the music.

Another recurring event is the Svatoanenská pouť at the Chapel of St. Anne between Úsobí and Chválkov. It takes place every year in the middle of the summer holidays; here, too, the exact dates vary. When planning, you can distinguish between the music events around Saints Peter and Paul and the pilgrimage in midsummer.

Hiking Trails and Destinations in the Surrounding Area

For route planning, a description published in 2017 gives 14 kilometres for the full route from Radňov to Větrný Jeníkov. It also specifies an approximately four-kilometre section between the Chapel of St. Anne and the viewpoint above Úsobí. The blue-marked hiking trail from Radňov to Úsobí follows the course of Úsobský potok for most of its length. Check the current trail markings locally before setting out.

Nearby, a notable sycamore maple grows by the Kukačka forester’s hut on the route between the Chapel of St. Anne and Úsobí. It consists of seven trunks that have grown together. It adds a striking natural attraction along this route alongside the chapel and viewpoint. If you pass the Chapel of St. Anne, the hiking trail also coincides with the annual pilgrimage in the middle of the summer holidays, placing it in a specific event context.

Úsobí Castle and Panský rybník

Úsobí Castle is currently open to everyone interested in its history, special rooms and unusual accommodation. Panský rybník lies right next to the castle, and fishing is possible there. A permit can be arranged through the castle; confirm the arrangements before your arrival. This makes a castle visit and an interest in fishing distinct options to consider for your stay.
