Studnice offers a range of starting points for planning your trip, including cycling routes, landscapes and local history. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Studnice, first consider whether you want to focus mainly on cycling, local history, or both.

Cycling Routes and Tour Planning

Cycling route 5206 runs through Studnice between Oslava and Budišov. The “Podél řeky Oslavy” cycling route is 40 kilometres long and runs from Oslava via Studnice and Kundelov to Budišov, then through other places on the way back to Náměšť nad Oslavou. This distinction matters when planning: route 5206 covers the section between Oslava and Budišov, while the 40-kilometre route continues through other places on its way back to Náměšť nad Oslavou.

The “Podél řeky Oslavy” route can be shortened; you can return by train from Budišov or Kojatín. This is a different return option from the route via other places to Náměšť nad Oslavou described in the route itinerary. Check the current timetable before your trip if you plan to take the train. In addition, road III/36056 connects Budišov with Rohy and Oslavička via Kundelov and Studnice. In this sequence, Studnice lies between Kundelov and Rohy; Budišov and Oslavička are the other places on the route.

Landscape in Studnice

Studnice is located in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. At 509 metres above sea level, Studnická strážnice is the highest peak. Dolní rybník is in the town centre and is one of two ponds in Studnice; the Oslava flows through a picturesque, wooded valley along the northeastern boundary of the Studnice cadastral area. These landmarks have distinct locations: the pond is in the town centre, while the Oslava follows the northeastern edge of the cadastral area. Studnická strážnice adds a named peak with a specific elevation to these landscape features.

Local History and Historic Buildings

In 1481, Konrád z Miroslavě, Berta z Kokor and their son acquired the village of Studnice, along with its farm and appurtenances. Konrád apparently built a fortress there. The fortress soon fell into disuse after it ceased to serve as a manor house.

The chapel in Studnice has a bell dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Řihákův mlýn, formerly Hamžův mlýn, stands on the right bank of the Oslava between Dolní Heřmanice and Studnice. The building dates from around 1640 and is a cultural monument. The purchase of the village in 1481 and the mill dating from around 1640 mark two distinct points in the town’s history. Their historical associations differ: the fortress is notable for its former role as a manor house, the chapel for the bell’s dedication to Mary, and the mill for its designation as a cultural monument.
