Here, a distinctive building in the village and the wooded hills offer contrasting impressions.
History and Traces at Rohy
Skřinářov was first mentioned in writing in 1364. At that time, the village was recorded in the land registers as the property of the Lords of Ronov, who then held Osová Castle. The former settlement of Rohy was depopulated between 1560 and 1590. These two dates mark different periods in the area’s history: Skřinářov’s first written mention and the later depopulation of Rohy.
Near the former forester’s house at Rohy, remains of earlier field boundaries and original stone mounds, as well as a well, have been preserved. These tangible traces offer insight into the area’s former use. Hrádek Rohy is a distinctive, well-preserved landform of a castle or fortification. A stream that rises there fills the defensive moat about halfway with water.
Hrádek Rohy lies about 1.5 km from Skřinářov, in a small patch of woodland 50 to 60 m to the right of the road to Heřmanov. This location information adds a specific point of reference to the historical features. Skřinářov also has a memorial to the victims of the First World War.
